21st Brigade (Australia)
The 21st Brigade was a brigade-sized infantry unit of the Australian Army. It was briefly raised in 1912 as a Militia formation providing training as part of the compulsory training scheme. Later, it was re-formed in April 1940 as part of the Second Australian Imperial Force, the unit was raised for service during World War II. As part of the 7th Division the brigade's constituent units were raised from volunteers from several Australian states. After rudimentary training in Australia, the brigade deployed for the Middle East in October 1940. Defensive duties were mounted along the Libyan border in early 1941, before the brigade was committed to the Syria-Lebanon campaign, fighting against Vichy French forces. In early 1942, following Japan's entry into the war, the brigade returned to Australia. 21st Panzer Brigade (Bundeswehr)
The 21st Panzer Brigade "Lipperland" (german: Panzerbrigade 21 "Lipperland", abbreviated to: PzBrig 21) is a brigade in the German Army and part of the Bundeswehr. The brigade staff and most of its units are based at the Field Marshal Rommel Barracks in Augustdorf, North Rhine-Westphalia. Several companies are based in Glückauf Barracks in Unna-Königsborn. The roughly 4,200 strong brigade is one of the Army's reaction forces and, like the Panzerlehrbrigade 9 and Panzergrenadierbrigade 41, is subordinate to the 1st Panzer Division headquartered in Hanover. 21st Panzer Brigade was formed in 1957 as Combat Group (''Panzerkampfgruppe'') C3 in the 3rd Panzer Division and, from 1959 to 2006, was assigned to the 7th Panzer Division. 21st Armoured Brigade (Greece)
The 21st Armoured Brigade "Pindus Cavalry" ( el, XXI Τεθωρακισμένη Ταξιαρχία «Ταξιαρχία Ιππικού Πίνδος», XXI ΤΘΤ) is a tank formation of the Hellenic Army, based in Komotini, Western Thrace. History The 21st Armoured Brigade was planned in 1968, but delays in acquiring the necessary equipment meant that it began forming at Litochoro on 1 December 1970, and was moved to the Komotini-Alexandroupoli area in September 1971. Upon the completion of its formation in 1971, the Brigade comprised the 211th and 212th Medium Tank Battalions (211 & 212 ΕΜΑ), the 21st Reconnaissance Company (21 ΙΛΑΝ), and various support companies. 21st Brigade (Greece)
The 1st Infantry Regiment "Sangarios" ( el, 1ο Σύνταγμα Πεζικού «ΣΑΓΓΑΡΙΟΣ», 1ο ΣΠ) is a motorized infantry regiment of the Hellenic Army. Established in 1885 at Athens, it fought in all conflicts in which Greece participated until World War II, when it was disbanded following the German invasion of Greece. It was re-established as the 21st Brigade (21η Ταξιαρχία) in 1945, and participated in the Greek Civil War. Receiving the designation 1st Infantry Regiment again in 1951, it was headquartered in Florina from 1952 until its disbandment in 1998. In 2013 it was re-established at Florina.
