20th Golden Melody Awards
Ceremonies of the 20th Golden Melody Awards were held at the Taipei Arena in Taipei, Taiwan on June 27, 2009. Registration process Registration for entry into the 20th Golden Melody Awards was opened December 1–31, 2008. In order to enhance the fairness of decisions, the Government Information Office promised to increase the number of judges, based on recommendations from industry experts. Taipei Arena
The Taipei Arena () is a multi-purpose stadium located in Songshan, Taipei, Taiwan, and it is operated by the Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC). Built in 2005, the large multi-purpose stadium can accommodate major international sport events such as ice skating, ice hockey, gymnastics, handball, basketball, tennis, badminton, table tennis, indoor soccer, boxing, judo, karate, taekwondo and wrestling. Building It was designed by Archasia, an architectural firm based in Taipei, and Populous, a Kansas City, Missouri, design and architectural firm specializing in sports venues. Stanley Huang (born 21 September 1974) is a Taiwanese-American singer and actor. Early life Huang was born and raised in Orange County, California. His family moved here before he was born. Claire Kuo (born Kuo Po-yu on 5 August 1980) is a Taiwanese singer and television host. The daughter of a restaurant owner, Kuo graduated from Shih Hsin University and was a competitive cheerleader. Jody Chiang or Jiang Hui (), born Jiang Shuhui (), is a Taiwanese popular singer. She began recording in the 1980s and retired in 2015, having released 60 albums. Her trademark ballads and folk songs are typically sung in Taiwanese. Her role in Taiwan's popular music scene is often compared to that of Teresa Teng. She is the older sister of Chiang Shu-na. Crowd Lu (; born 15 July 1985) is a Taiwanese singer, songwriter and actor. He is also nicknamed "Vitas Lu" after making a parody of the song Opera No. 2 by the Russian singer Vitas, having the ability to hit the same high notes.
