2025 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C
The 2025 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C is a football competition held in Brazil, equivalent to the third division. It began on 12 April and will end on 26 October 2025. Twenty teams compete in the tournament, twelve returning from the 2024 season, four promoted from the 2024 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D (Anápolis, Itabaiana, Maringá and Retrô) and four relegated from the 2024 Campeonato Brasileiro Série B ( Brusque, Ituano, Guarani and Ponte Preta). Format The first stage will have one group where each team will play the other teams in a single round-robin tournament. The top eight teams will advance to the second stage, while the bottom four will be relegated. In the second stage, the teams will be divided into two groups of four teams each. Campeonato Brasileiro Série C
The Campeonato Brasileiro Série C, commonly known as the Série C or the Brazilian Série C to distinguish it from the Italian Serie C, is the third tier of the Brazilian football league system. Unlike the first and second divisions, the Série C is not played in a double round robin system, arguably because many participating teams lack the financial conditions to travel long distances. Thus, the tournament is organized in regional groups and the table prevents teams from distant states from playing each other in the initial rounds. Beginning in 2009, the Série C was reduced from 64 teams to 20 and the new Campeonato Brasileiro Série D is the qualifier for Brazilian league football. In its current format the first phase was then played in a single round, with 19 matches. 2024 Campeonato Brasileiro Série B
The 2024 Campeonato Brasileiro Série B (officially the Brasileirão Série B Betnacional 2024 for sponsorship reasons) was a football competition held in Brazil, equivalent to the second division. The competition began on 19 April and ended on 24 November. Twenty teams competed in the tournament, twelve returning from the 2023 season, four promoted from the 2023 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C ( Amazonas, Brusque, Operário Ferroviário and Paysandu), and four relegated from the 2023 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A (América Mineiro, Coritiba, Goiás and Santos). This was the first Série B played by Santos in their history. The top four teams were promoted to the 2025 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. Santos became the first club to be promoted on 11 November 2024 after a 0–2 win against Coritiba. Ceará, Mirassol and Sport were promoted on 24 November 2024.
