2024–25 Oxford United F.C. Season
The 2024–25 season was the 131st season in the history of Oxford United Football Club. It was their first season back in the Championship (the second tier of English football) since the 1998–99 season, following their promotion from League One via the play-offs the previous season. In addition to the domestic league, the club also participated in the FA Cup, and the EFL Cup. The club guaranteed Championship survival with a game to spare and finished the season in 17th place in the division. 2024–25 EFL Cup
The 2024–25 EFL Cup was the 65th season of the English Football League Cup. It was sponsored by Carabao Energy Drink and known as the Carabao Cup for sponsorship reasons. The EFL Cup was open to all clubs participating in the Premier League and the English Football League. The winner of the competition qualified for the play-off round of the 2025–26 UEFA Conference League. Liverpool were the defending champions, having beaten Chelsea in the previous season's final but were beaten in this season's final by Newcastle United, who won their first EFL Cup and a first domestic trophy since the 1954–55 FA Cup. Sam Long (footballer, Born 1995)
Samuel Patrick Robert Long (born 16 January 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for club Oxford United. Career Long began his career with Oxford United and made his professional debut on 27 April 2013 as a late substitute in a 3–0 victory over Accrington Stanley on the last day of the 2012–13 season. His first starting appearance was in a 1–1 draw with Morecambe in League Two on 22 February 2014. On 20 November 2014, he joined Kidderminster Harriers on loan as part of a deal that saw Chey Dunkley going the other direction. Following his return to Oxford, he scored his first goal, in a 2–3 home defeat against Southend United in EFL League Two on 17 January 2015. Matthew Robert Ingram (born 18 December 1993) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for club Oxford United. He has previously played for Wycombe Wanderers, Lewes, Hayes & Yeading United, Oxford City, Northampton Town, Queens Park Rangers and Hull City. Simon Christopher Eastwood (born 26 June 1989) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for club Oxford United. Eastwood started his career as a youth player with Huddersfield Town.
