2024–25 LKL Season
The 2024–25 Lietuvos krepšinio lyga season, also called Betsafe–LKL for sponsorship reasons, was the 32nd season of the top-tier level professional basketball league of Lithuania, the Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL). Rytas were defending champions, however, they finished as a runners-up, losing finals series to eventual champions Žalgiris, who won their 25th champioship. Teams 10 teams participated in the 2024–25 season. Despite the announcement that no team will be relegated after 2023–24 due to Gargždai bankruptcy, last place finishers Pieno žvaigždės decided to withdraw from the league due to struggles to meet league's budget requirements. Due to decreased number of teams, the league's format was changed, with the format being same as 2020–21 season, where 10 teams faced-off each other 4 times with top 8 teams advancing into Playoffs. Lietuvos Krepšinio Lyga
Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL; ), also known as Betsafe LKL for sponsorship reasons, is the premier men's professional club basketball league in Lithuania. It is composed of 10 teams, and it is a member of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation. The best LKL clubs are also annual participants of the top European-wide basketball competitions, including the top-tier level EuroLeague. On April 22, 1993, the Lietuvos krepšinio asociacija (LKA; ) was founded. It was the first professional sports organisation in Lithuania. Lietuvos krepšinio lyga was built on the foundation of the LKA. Former basketball player Šarūnas Marčiulionis is named as the founder of the league. He was the first president of the LKL and served from 1993 to 2002. Remigijus Milašius is the current president of the league since 2013. The league's headquarters is located in Vilnius. BC Gargždai-SC
BC Gargždai was a professional basketball club based in Gargždai, Lithuania. The club won the 2021–22 National Basketball League championship, which saw them promoted to the Lithuanian Basketball League for the 2022–23 season. They played their home matches at Švyturys Arena in Klaipėda. Kėdainiai () is one of the oldest List of cities in Lithuania, cities in Lithuania. It is located north of Lithuania's second largest city Kaunas on the banks of the Nevėžis River. Kėdainiai were first mentioned in the 1372 Livonian Chronicle of Hermann de Wartberge, its population was 23,051. Telšiai (; Samogitian language, Samogitian: ''Telšē'') is a city in Lithuania with about 21,499 inhabitants. It is the capital of Telšiai County and Samogitia region, and it is located on the shores of Lake Mastis. Kalnapilio Arena
Kalnapilis Arena, formerly Cido Arena, is the largest multifunctional arena in Panevėžys, Lithuania. It generally hosts track cycling events, as well as basketball games and concerts. History The basketball club BC Lietkabelis, which currently competes in the domestic LKL league, uses the facility for all of its LKL home fixtures. It was opened on October 24, 2008. Basketball Club Wolves, officially named Wolves Twinsbet for sponsorship reasons, was a professional basketball club based in Vilnius, Lithuania. The team competed in the Lietuvos krepšinio lyga, Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). The team played its home games at the 10,800-seat Avia Solutions Group Arena, Twinsbet Arena. BC Nevėžis (), commonly known as Nevėžis Kėdainiai, also known as Nevėžis-OPTIBET due to sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball club based in Kėdainiai, Lithuania. The club currently competes in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). History BC Nevėžis was founded in 1992 by Stasys Mickevičius.
