2024–25 EuroLeague Women
The 2024–25 EuroLeague Women was the 67th edition of the European women's club basketball championship organized by FIBA, and the 28th edition since being rebranded as the EuroLeague Women. Fenerbahçe Opet are the two-time defending champions, but failed to retain their title after they were defeated at the semifinals by ZVVZ USK Praha. ZVVZ USK Praha won their second title after triumphing over CBK Mersin in the final. With legendary coach, Natália Hejková, winning the title before her retirement. Format Starting this season, a new format will be introduced after FIBA Europe announced a change to the format on 10 May 2024. 2023–24 EuroLeague Women
The 2023–24 EuroLeague Women was the 66th edition of the European women's club basketball championship organized by FIBA Europe, FIBA, and the 27th edition since being rebranded as the EuroLeague Women. Fenerbahçe S.K. (women's basketball), Fenerbahçe Alagoz Holding are the defending champions. The Turkish side successfully defended their crown by defeating first-time finalists ESB Villeneuve-d'Ascq, Villeneuve d'Ascq LM to become back-to-back champions in the competition. This season had record-breaking success on digital platforms. Format After the qualifiers, sixteen teams play in the #Regular season, regular season. They were divided into 2 groups of 8, with the top 4 advancing to the quarter-finals. Basket Zaragoza 2002 S.A.D., more commonly referred to as Basket Zaragoza and as Casademont Zaragoza for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball club based in Zaragoza, Spain. The team plays in the Liga ACB and the FIBA Europe Cup. Their home arena is the Pabellón Príncipe Felipe. History Basket Zaragoza was founded in 2002 with the aim of giving the city of Zaragoza back to the Spanish basketball elite league, after old CB Zaragoza left the Liga ACB on 1996. The Turkish Basketball Federation () is the national federation for basketball in Turkey. It is headquartered in Istanbul. They organize the Basketball Super League, Women's Basketball Super League the Turkish Basketball Cup and the Turkish Basketball Presidential Cup. The 2024–25 EuroCup Women is the 23rd edition of FIBA Europe's second-tier international competition for women's basketball clubs under such name. London Lions are the defending champions, but didn't defend their title after not entering European competitions this season due to financial reasons. ESB Villeneuve-d'Ascq won their second title after beating Baxi Ferrol in the final. Format After the qualifiers, 48 teams are divided into 12 groups of 4. with the top 2 plus the 4 best third place teams advancing to the knockout stage. In the knockout stage, the 28 teams, plus the 4 who dropped down from the Euroleague Women, are seeded based on their results in the regular season. Natália Hejková
Natália Hejková (born 7 April 1954) is a former Slovak basketball coach and player. In 2019 she was inducted in the FIBA Hall of Fame. Biography Hejková was born on 7 April 1954 to Vsevolod Hejk, a Russian-Czech engineer, who was posted to Slovakia to oversee road construction and a Slovak schoolteacher Mária Hejková (née Buociková). She was born and raised in Žilina, where she started playing basketball at the age of 14. Hejková is single and childless. Playing career In 1972, following her high school graduation, Hejková started to study law at the Charles University in Prague. During her studies, she played for the university basketball team Slávia VŠ Praha. Following her graduation in 1979, she joined the team TJ SCP Ružomberok, where she remained until her retirement in 1986.
