2024 Nepal Tri-Nation Series (round 1)
The 2024 Nepal Tri-Nation Series was the first round of the 2024–2026 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 cricket tournament took place in Nepal in February 2024. The tri-nation series was contested by the men's national teams of Namibia, Nepal and Netherlands. The matches were played as One Day International (ODI) fixtures. Following the ODI series, the three sides played a Twenty20 International (T20I) tri-nation series. The Netherlands defeated Nepal in the final by 4 wickets. League 2 series Squads Nepal also named Pratis GC, Dev Khanal, Anil Sah and Bibek Yadav as reserves for the series. Before the start of the series, Rijan Dhakal and Arjun Saud were replaced in the Nepal squad by reserves Dev Khanal and Anil Sah. 2024–2026 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2
The 2024–2026 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 is the second edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2, a cricket tournament which forms part of the 2027 Cricket World Cup qualification process. As a result of the scrapping of Super League, this cycle of League 2 saw an increase from 7 to 8 teams. The rise in team count led to an increase in the total number of fixtures from 126 to 144. Scotland entered the competition as the defending champions. Teams and qualification The previous World Cup qualification cycle allowed for promotion of the League 2 champion to the Super League. However, the scrapping of that tournament meant that the previous League 2 champions, Scotland, remained in this competition, and Netherlands were added having previously played in the Super League. Johannes Jonathan Smit (born 10 November 1995) is a Namibian cricketer who made his senior debut for the Namibian national side in February 2012, aged 16. Early career A left-arm fast bowler from Keetmanshoop, Smit made his debut for the Namibian under-19 side during the 2011–12 season. Ruben Trumpelmann (born 1 February 1998) is a South African born-Namibian cricketer, who now plays for the Namibia cricket team. Early life and education Trumpelmann was born in Durban, South Africa to a Namibian-born father and spent his early life in Pretoria. He was educated at Afrikaans Hoer Skool, South Africa. Career He made his List A debut for Northerns in the 2017–18 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge on 12 November 2017. Ben Shikongo (born 8 May 2000) is a Namibian cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Namibia in the 2017–18 Sunfoil 3-Day Cup on 8 February 2018. Bernard Scholtz
Bernard Martinus Scholtz (born 3 October 1990) is a Namibian cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a slow left-arm bowler. He was born in Keetmanshoop. His brother, Nicolaas, four years his senior, has played first-class cricket since 2004. Biography Scholtz played for the Namibia under-19 national team at the 2008 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Malaysia. He made five appearances during the competition proper, taking six wickets. Tangeni Lungameni (born 17 April 1992) is a Namibian international cricketer who made his debut for the Namibian national team in January 2016. He is a left-arm pace bowler. Michael van Lingen (born 24 October 1997) is a Namibian cricketer. In January 2016, he was named in Namibia's squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He was one of the most successful bowlers at the tournament, and was also praised during Namibia's surprise victory over South Africa when he walked after being caught behind despite the umpire not giving him out. The wicket-keeper in the sport of cricket is the player on the fielding side who stands behind the wicket or stumps being watchful of the batsman and ready to take a catch, stump the batsman out and run out a batsman when occasion arises.
