2024 Indian General Election In Tamil Nadu
The 2024 Indian general election in Tamil Nadu will be held in or before May 2024 to elect the 39 members of the 18th Lok Sabha. Background DMK is part of Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, which was formed on 18 July 2023. On 25 September 2023, AIADMK withdrew from the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance to form and lead the new alliance, and it was officially announced by the party. On 19 January 2024, DMK constituted a seven-member committee to hold consultations with alliance partners for seat sharing. The Lok Sabha, constitutionally the House of the People, is the lower house of India's bicameral Parliament, with the upper house being the Rajya Sabha. Members of the Lok Sabha are elected by an adult universal suffrage and a first-past-the-post system to represent their respective constituencies, and they hold their seats for five years or until the body is dissolved by the President on the advice of the council of ministers.
