2024 Championship League (ranking)
The 2024 Championship League (officially the 2024 BetVictor Championship League) was a professional ranking snooker tournament that took place from 10 June to 3 July 2024 at the Leicester Arena in Leicester, England. The event featured 128 players and was played as three rounds of roundrobin groups of four, before a bestoffive final. It was the fifth edition of the ranking version of the Championship League, and the first ranking tournament of the 202425 season. Shaun Murphy was the defending champion, having defeated Mark Williams 30 in the final of the previous ranking edition of the tournament, but he was knocked out in Stage 2. Ali Carter won his sixth ranking title, defeating Jackson Page 31 in the final. There were 95 century breaks made during the tournament, the highest being a 142 made by Wu Yize. Championship League
Championship League is a professional snooker tournament, devised by Matchroom Sport. A ranking event version of the tournament began from September 2020, played similarly to its invitational, non-ranking counterpart but with some minor changes and opened to the entire World Snooker Tour. The tournament was originally held at the Crondon Park Golf Club in Stock, Essex, from its debut in 2008 until 2016. From 2017 to 2018, it was held at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. Luca Brecel is the reigning champion of the ranking edition and John Higgins is the reigning champion of the invitational edition. Mark Williams (snooker Player)
Mark James Williams (born 21 March 1975) is a Welsh professional snooker player who is a three-time World Champion, winning in 2000, 2003 and 2018. Often noted for his single-ball long potting ability, Williams has earned the nickname "The Welsh Potting Machine". Williams turned professional in 1992 and has been ranked the world number one player three times ( 1999–00, 2000–01 and 2002–03). His most successful season to date was 2002–03, when he won the Triple Crown: the UK Championship, the Masters and the World Championship. Harvey Chandler (born 19 April 1995) is a former English professional snooker player from Northamptonshire. Iulian Boiko
Iulian Boiko (born 22 September 2005 in Kyiv, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian snooker player who was professional from 2020 to 2022. Career In May 2019, Boiko registered his first official century break in a 4–3 defeat against Billy Joe Castle in the Q School 2019 - Event 2. In January 2020, Boiko finished as runner-up in the WSF Open, as a result, he was awarded a two-year card on the World Snooker Tour for the 2020–21 and 2021–22. As a 14 years old, he became the youngest ever professional player. Mark Anthony Selby (born 19 June 1983) is an English professional snooker player, who is a four-time World Snooker Champion. Luca Brecel
Luca Brecel (born 8 March 1995) is a Belgian professional snooker player. He won the European Under-19 title at the age of 14 and went on to break Stephen Hendry's record as the youngest player ever to compete at the Crucible Theatre. He made his debut at the 2012 World Championship aged 17 years and 45 days, almost two months younger than Hendry in 1986. In 2017, Brecel became the first player from mainland Europe to win a ranking event when he defeated Shaun Murphy in the final of the China Championship. Judd Trump (born 20 August 1989) is an English professional snooker player, a former world champion and former world number one. Mark Allen (born 22 February 1986) is a Northern Irish professional snooker player from Antrim. He won the World Amateur Championship in 2004, turned professional the following year, and took only three seasons to reach the top 16. The Champion of Champions is a professional non-ranking snooker tournament. It was held in 1978 and 1980 and was then revived in 2013 by Matchroom Sport. The reigning (2022) champion is Ronnie O'Sullivan, taking his record fourth win in the competition. The Champion of Champions features winners of World Snooker events over the preceding 12 months, with the field topped up, if necessary, from the current World Rankings.
