2024 Campeonato Gaúcho
The 2024 Campeonato Gaúcho, Campeonato da Primeira Divisão de Futebol Profissional da FGF - Divisão Especial - Série A1, better known as the 2024 Campeonato Gaúcho (officially the Gauchão Ipiranga (company), Ipiranga 2024 for sponsorship reasons), will be the 104th season of Rio Grande do Sul's Glossary of association football terms#Top flight, top flight Association football, football league. The competition will be played from 20 January to 6 April 2024, with 12 clubs contesting the tournament. Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense, Grêmio are the six-time defending champions. Esporte Clube Avenida, commonly referred to as Avenida, is a Brazilian football club based in Santa Cruz do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul. It currently plays in Campeonato Gaúcho Série A2, the second level of the Rio Grande do Sul state football league. History The club was founded on January 6, 1944. Avenida merged with Futebol Clube Santa Cruz, its rival, in the 1960s to form Associação Santa Cruz do Futebol, due to financial difficulties, but the merger was a failure, and both clubs continued being separate teams. Bagé () is a city located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. In 2020, its population was 121,335 in a total area of 4,096 km2. It was the seventeenth largest city in the state according to the 2011 census. The city was founded in 1811 and given city status in 1859.
