2024 Argentine Primera División
The 2024 Argentine Primera División - Liga Profesional (officially the Torneo Sur Finanzas 2024 for sponsorship reasons) will be the 134th season of top-flight professional football in Argentina. The league season will begin on 12 May and will end on 15 December 2024. Twenty-eight teams will compete in the league: twenty-six returning from the 2023 season as well as two promoted teams from the 2023 Primera Nacional (Independiente Rivadavia and Deportivo Riestra), both teams will participating in Argentine Primera Division for the first time in history from this season. River Plate will be the defending champions. Competition format The competition will be run under a single round-robin, contested by 28 teams (26 from the previous edition plus 2 promoted from Primera Nacional). The Primera División (; en, "First Division"), known officialy as Liga Profesional de Fútbol, or Torneo Binance for sponsorship reasons, is a professional football league in Argentina, organised by the Argentine Football Association (AFA). The Primera División is the country's premier football division and is the top division of the Argentine football league system. It operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Primera Nacional (Second Division), with the teams placed lowest at the end of the season being relegated. Club Atlético Barracas Central is an Argentine football club from the district of Barracas, Buenos Aires. Established in 1904, Barracas Central will return to the Primera División, the top level of the Argentine football league system, in the 2022 season after the team won the Torneo Reducido.
