2024 Anchorage Mayoral Election
The 2024 Anchorage mayoral election was held on April 2, 2024, with a runoff election on May 14 because no candidate received more than 45% of the vote in the first round. It elected the mayor of Anchorage, mayor of Anchorage, Alaska. Incumbent Alaska Republican Party, Republican mayor Dave Bronson ran for re-election to a second term in office. Bronson and former Anchorage Assembly chair Suzanne LaFrance advanced to the runoff, with LaFrance narrowly placing ahead of Bronson. Bronson's general election vote total was the lowest for an incumbent Anchorage mayor since 2009 Anchorage mayoral election, 2009. Candidates eliminated in the general election include nonprofit executive Bill Popp and former Alaska House Majority Leader Chris Tuck. Suzanne LaFrance (born 1968) is an American politician from the U.S. state, state of Alaska. She is the mayor of Anchorage, having unseated incumbent mayor Dave Bronson in the 2024 Anchorage mayoral election, 2024 election. LaFrance served on the Anchorage Assembly from 2017 to 2023. She ran for the Alaska House of Representatives against James D. Kaufman for the 28th district in 2020, but lost. In 2024, LaFrance ran for mayor of Anchorage against Dave Bronson, the incumbent mayor. LaFrance defeated Bronson. She was sworn into office on July 1. References

2021 Anchorage Mayoral Election
The 2021 Anchorage mayoral election was held on April 6, 2021, to elect the mayor of Anchorage, Alaska. As no candidate received at least 45% of the vote in the first round, the two candidates with the highest vote share, Forrest Dunbar and Dave Bronson, advanced to a runoff on May 11. The election was officially nonpartisan. Incumbent independent acting mayor Austin Quinn-Davidson, first appointed to the position in October 2020, was eligible to run for reelection to a full term, but did not run. The deadline to register to vote in the first round was March 7. Mail-in ballots were sent out starting on March 15. On May 21, 2021, after a narrow loss, Dunbar conceded the race to Bronson. Forrest Dunbar (born 1984) is an American politician, attorney, and military officer. He is a member of the Alaska Senate, representing Anchorage District J since 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served on the Anchorage Assembly from 2016 to 2023. He is a major and Judge Advocate in the Alaska Army National Guard. Daniel Albert Sullivan (born June 16, 1951) is an American businessman and politician who served as the mayor of Anchorage from 2009 to 2015 and on the Anchorage Assembly from 1999 to 2008.
