2024 All-Ireland Under-20 Hurling Championship Final
The 2024 All-Ireland Under-20 Hurling Championship final was a hurling match that was played on 1 June to determine the winners of the 2024 All-Ireland Under-20 Hurling Championship, the 61st season of the All-Ireland Under-20 Hurling Championship, a tournament organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association for the champion teams of Leinster and Munster. The final was contested by Tipperary of Munster and Offaly of Leinster. The final was a sell-out with up to 20,000 supporters attending from Offaly. The final was held in Nowlan park to mark the anniversary of former GAA president James Nowlan, who died 100 years ago this year, the winners also receive the James Nolan Cup. The 2024 All-Ireland Under-20 Hurling Championship is the sixth staging of the All-Ireland Under-20 Hurling Championship, All-Ireland Under-20 Championship and the 61st staging overall of a hurling championship for players between the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship, minor and All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, senior grades. The provincial group stage placings were confirmed in December 2023. The championship ran from 30 March to 01 June 2024. Cork GAA, Cork entered the championship as the 2023 All-Ireland Under-20 Hurling Championship, defending champions, however, they were beaten by Tipperary GAA, Tipperary in the #Munster final, Munster final. James Nowlan
James Nowlan (1862 – June 1924) was president of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) from 1901 to 1921 and is the longest serving president of that organisation. He was also a Sinn Féin representative and member of the Gaelic League. In 2009, he was named in the ''Sunday Tribune''s list of the ''125 Most Influential People In GAA History''. Early life Nowlan was born in Monasterevin, County Kildare in 1862 and is listed in the local church as being baptised at Cowpasture, Monasterevin on 25 May 1862. His father, Patrick Nowlan, was an early member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB) and friend of James Stephens. Patrick Nowlan was a cooper from Kilkenny city and possibly moved from there to work at Cassidy's Whiskey in Monasterevin. James Nowlan also trained as a cooper.
