2024 A-League Men Grand Final
The 2024 A-League Men Grand Final, known officially as the Isuzu UTE A-League Grand Final, was a soccer match that was played between Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne Victory on 25 May 2024 at Central Coast Stadium in Gosford, Australia. The match determined the champion of the A-League Men and was the 19th A-League Men Grand Final, the culmination of the 2023–24 season. The match was refereed by Alex King. Central Coast Mariners won 3–1 in extra time to win their second consecutive championship. The Mariners achieved the first treble by an A-League club. Ryan Edmondson was awarded the Joe Marston Medal and Josh Nisbet was awarded the Johnny Warren Medal at the trophy ceremony. Mariners' head coach Mark Jackson was named A-League Men Coach of the Year on the same day. The 2023–24 A-League Men, known as the Isuzu UTE A-League for sponsorship reasons, is the 47th season of national level men's soccer in Australia, and the 19th since the establishment of the competition as the A-League in 2004. Mark Jackson (footballer, Born 1977)
Mark Graham Jackson (born 30 September 1977) is an English footballer manager and former player who is head coach of Milton Keynes Dons. A former defender, he notably played for Scunthorpe United. At international level, he made four appearances for the England U20 national team. Playing career As a player Jackson started his career at Leeds United. The 2018 A-League Grand Final was the thirteenth A-League Grand Final, played on 5 May 2018. The match took place at McDonald Jones Stadium, with Newcastle Jets hosting Melbourne Victory, the first A-League grand final held outside a metropolitan city. The 2023–24 AFC Cup will be the 20th edition of the AFC Cup, Asia's secondary club football tournament organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). This is the first ever AFC Cup season to have a two-year (autumn-to-spring) schedule, instead of an all-year-round (spring-to-autumn) schedule. The 2013 A-League Grand Final was the eighth A-League Grand Final, which took place at the Sydney Football Stadium on 21 April 2013. The match was won by Central Coast Mariners, who beat Western Sydney Wanderers 2–0, in front of 42,102 people. This was the first time the Central Coast Mariners became champions of Australia, after losing three previous grand finals. The 2007–08 A-League was the 31st season of top-flight soccer in Australia, and the third season of the A-League competition since its establishment in 2004. Football Federation Australia hoped to build on the success of the previous two seasons and on the interest generated by Sydney FC and Adelaide United playing in the 2007 AFC Champions League, and the Socceroos competing in the 2007 AFC Asian Cup. Tony Popovic
Tony Popovic (born 4 July 1973) is an Australian association football manager and former player. He is the current manager of A-League club Melbourne Victory. As a player Popovic's usual position was centre-back. Starting in 1989 at Sydney United he went on to play for Sanfrecce Hiroshima of Japan and Premier League side Crystal Palace, among other clubs. He appeared with the Australian national team at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, where he played against reigning World Champions Brazil. Popovic started his coaching career in 2008 with Sydney FC.
