2023–24 USM Alger Season
The 2023–24 season, is USM Alger's 46th season and the club's 29th consecutive season in the top flight of Algerian football. In addition to the domestic league, USM Alger are participating in this season's editions of the Algerian Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup. As the reigning Confederation Cup champions, USMA contested the CAF Super Cup. Review Background This season is the very first time since 2010–11 without Mohamed Lamine Zemmamouche, who announced his retirement after winning CAF Confederation Cup final, therefore leaving USM Alger after 18 years of his career, being the most caped player in club's history with 405 matches and having won 10 trophies altogether since his debut. Union Sportive de la Médina d'Alger ( ar, الإتحاد الرياضي لمدينة الجزائر); known as USM Alger or simply USMA for short, is a football club based in the inner suburbs of Algiers. The club was founded in 1937 and its colours are red and black. Their home stadium, Omar Hamadi Stadium, has a capacity of 10,000 spectators. The club is currently playing in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1. Ismaïl Abdelfetah Belkacemi ( ar, إسماعيل عبد الفتاح بلقاسمي; born 24 June 1993) is an Algerian footballer who plays for USM Alger in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1. Club career In 2015, Belkacemi signed a two-year contract with MO Béjaïa. In 2018, He signed a two-year contract with CS Constantine. On September 16, Belkacemi joined USM Alger for three seasons, coming from CS Constantine. He made his debut for the team in the Super Cup final as a starter in a loss against CR Belouizdad. Antar Yahia ( ar, عنتر يحيى; born 21 March 1982) is a retired professional footballer who played as a centre-back. Yahia is a former French youth international having earned caps for both the under-16 and under-18 youth teams for a brief period of time. He was the first footballer to profit from the 2004 change in FIFA eligibility rules as he had played as a French youth international. After his switch of national allegiance he was called up to the Algeria Under-23 side, scoring on his debut in a 1–0 win against Ghana in an Olympic Games qualifier on 2 January 2004.
