2023–24 Oklahoma City Thunder Season
The 2023–24 Oklahoma City Thunder season is the 16th season of the franchise in Oklahoma City and the 58th in the National Basketball Association (NBA). After a win over the Rockets on February 27, the Thunder improved on their 40–42 record from the previous year. After a win over the New Orleans Pelicans, the Thunder reached 50 wins for the first time since 2016. On March 31, 2024, the Thunder clinched their first playoff berth since 2020 after a win against the New York Knicks. They eventually clinched their first division title since 2016, along with the top seed in the Western Conference for the first time since 2013. The Thunder became the youngest team to earn the 1-seed since seeding began in 1984 (with an average age almost two years younger than the previous record holder, the 2004-05 Phoenix Suns). Mark Daigneault
Mark Daigneault (pronounced ''DAYG-nolt''; born February 23, 1985) is an American professional basketball coach and head coach for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Coaching career Daigneault began his coaching career as a student manager at UConn from 2003 to 2007 under Jim Calhoun. After earning his bachelor's degree in education, Daigneault initially intended to go for a master's degree, but was urged by Calhoun and associate head coach George Blaney to pursue an assistant coaching role at Holy Cross and offered strong recommendations. Daigneault was an assistant coach of the Florida Gators from 2010 to 2014 and was head coach of the NBA G League's Oklahoma City Blue, which is affiliated with the Oklahoma City Thunder of the NBA, from 2014 to 2019. Shaivonte Aician Gilgeous-Alexander ( ; born July 12, 1998), also known by his initials SGA, is a Canadian professional basketball player for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He also played one year of college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats. SGA was an NBA All-Star in 2023 and finished fourth in the league in scoring with 31.4 points per game while leading Oklahoma City to a play-in berth. Gilgeous-Alexander was selected in the first round of the 2018 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets with the 11th overall pick and was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers that same night for 12th overall pick, Miles Bridges. The 2020–21 Oklahoma City Thunder season was the 13th season of the franchise in Oklahoma City and the 55th in the National Basketball Association (NBA). This is the first season since 2014–15 without head coach Billy Donovan, as he mutually agreed to part ways with the Thunder on September 8, 2020, and 14 days later, went on to become the new head coach of the Chicago Bulls.
