2023–24 McNeese Cowgirls Basketball Team
The 2023–24 McNeese Cowgirls basketball team represented McNeese State University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Cowgirls, led by third year head coach Lynn Kennedy, played their home games at The Legacy Center located on the McNeese State University campus in Lake Charles, Louisiana. They were members of the Southland Conference. Media Home games are broadcast on ESPN+. Preseason polls Southland Conference Poll The Southland Conference released its preseason poll on October 10, 2023. Receiving 74 overall votes, the Cowgirls were in a tie to finish fifth in the conference. Preseason All Conference No Cowgirls were selected to a Preseason All-Conference team. The Legacy Center
The Legacy Center, originally known as the Health and Human Performance Education Complex (or H&HP Complex), is a multi-purpose arena in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on the campus of McNeese State University across the street from the Jack V. Doland Athletic Complex. The facility includes six classrooms, 12 faculty offices, a lab, a sports training center, an arena seating around 4,200 for basketball and other events as well as a volleyball court with seating for 600. Crawford Architects and Randy M Goodloe AIA, APAC were the project architectural firms, and the general contractor was Alfred Palma, LLC. Renaming On August 4, 2021, McNeese announced that the arena had been renamed The Legacy Center after Lake Charles couple David and Kimberly Griffin pledged $2.5 million in donations over 10 years. Ferrell Center
The Paul J. Meyer Arena, which is part of the Ferrell Center, is an arena in Waco, Texas. Built in 1988 and located adjacent to the Brazos River, it is home to the Baylor University Bears volleyball, acrobatics, and tumbling teams. It is named for Charles R. Ferrell, a Baylor student and legacy who died in 1967, and whose family's estate was a major benefactor of the arena. The building replaced the Heart O' Texas Coliseum as the school's primary indoor athletic facility. The men's and women's basketball teams relocated to the newly-constructed Foster Pavilion in 2024.
