2023–24 Los Angeles Kings Season
The 2023–24 Los Angeles Kings season is the 57th season (56th season of play) for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 5, 1967. This season is the first full-season without longtime goaltender and Conn Smythe Trophy winner Jonathan Quick, who was traded on March 1, 2023, to the Columbus Blue Jackets; the Blue Jackets traded Quick to the Vegas Golden Knights the following day. Following their December 7, 2023, 4–0 win against the Montreal Canadiens, the Kings set the opening road wins record at 11–0–0. On February 2, 2024, the Kings fired head coach Todd McLellan, and named his assistant Jim Hiller as interim head coach. Pacific Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League's Pacific Division was formed in 1993 as part of the Western Conference in a league realignment. It is also one of the two successors of the Smythe Division (the other one was the Northwest Division), though of the current teams, only the Anaheim Ducks, Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights did not play in the Smythe Division. Due to subsequent realignments, three of the Pacific Division's original teams (the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Vancouver Canucks) left the division in 1998 but returned in 2013. The division is the only one in the NHL without any Original Six teams. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting closure of the Canada-United States border, all eight teams were transferred into two different divisions for the 2020–21 NHL season. Andreas Englund
Andreas Englund (born 21 January 1996) is a Swedish professional ice hockey defenceman for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL). Englund was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the second round (40th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Englund made his professional debut in the 2013–14 season, with his youth club Djurgårdens IF of the then HockeyAllsvenskan. Following the club's promotion Englund made his Swedish Hockey League (SHL) during the 2014–15 season, appearing in 49 games for five points in his rookie campaign. The 2023–24 Anaheim Ducks season is the 31st season of operation (30th season of play) for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 15, 1993. On June 5, the Ducks hired Greg Cronin, who is the team's 11th head coach in team history. Cronin most recently served as the head coach of the Colorado Avalanche's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Colorado Eagles before becoming the head coach of the Ducks. The Ducks will attempt to improve on a disappointing 2022–23 season (23–47–12; 58 points). Copley (born January 18, 1992) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL). The 2022–23 Vegas Golden Knights season was the sixth season for the National Hockey League franchise that started playing in the 2017–18 season. On March 30, 2023, the Golden Knights clinched a playoff berth after the Nashville Predators lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins, returning to the playoffs after missing the previous postseason. Jonathan Quick
Jonathan Douglas Quick (born January 21, 1986) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL). Quick was selected in the third round, 72nd overall, by Los Angeles at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Quick is a two-time Vezina Trophy nominee and William M. Jennings Trophy winner and was a silver medalist with the United States at the 2010 Winter Olympics. The Conn Smythe Trophy (french: Trophée Conn Smythe) is awarded annually to the most valuable player (MVP) of his team during the National Hockey League's (NHL) Stanley Cup playoffs. It is named after Conn Smythe, the longtime owner, general manager, and head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
