2023–24 Liga MX Season
The 2023–24 Liga MX season (known as the Liga BBVA MX for sponsorship reasons) is the 77th professional season of the top-flight football league in Mexico. The season is to be divided into two championships—the Apertura 2023 and the Clausura 2024—each in an identical format and each contested by the same eighteen teams. Teams A total of eighteen teams are participating in the 2023–24 edition of the Liga MX. All eighteen teams have participated in Liga MX since the 2020–21 season. Changes The owner's assembly decided to adjust liguilla qualification, which was modified as of the Guardianes 2020 season. The number of teams directly qualifying to the quarter-finals was increased from four to six, while reducing the number of teams entering the reclassification round from eight to four, aligning it with the NBA's "play-in" round. The Liga MX, officially known as the Liga BBVA MX for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional football division in Mexico, holding 2 tournaments per year. The league is considered the strongest in North America, and among the strongest in all of the Americas. Cruz Azul
Club de Futbol Cruz Azul or simply Cruz Azul () is a professional football club based in Mexico City, Mexico. It competes in the Liga MX, the top division of Mexican football. Because "azul" means "blue" in Spanish, the club has traditionally worn a blue home kit. Founded in Jasso, Hidalgo, the club moved officially to Mexico City in 1971, where it had already registered a great presence and activity since its beginnings. Estadio Alfonso Lastras
Estadio Alfonso Lastras is a multi-use unfinished stadium in San Luis Potosí City, San Luis Potosí, Mexico. It is currently used mostly for association football, football matches, and also music concerts. It used to be the home stadium of San Luis F.C. but after it dissolved, Atlético San Luis is the current team that play in Alfonso Lastras. The stadium holds 25,709 people and was built in 2002. It is named after the late Alfonso Lastras Ramírez, who was co-founder of an early football club called Atlético Potosino, Cachorros de San Luis. Atlético San Luis
Club Atlético de San Luis, commonly known as Atlético San Luis, is a Mexican professional football club based in San Luis Potosí, replacing San Luis Potosí's Liga MX team San Luis FC after its relocation. San Luis was promoted to Liga MX in 2019.
