2023–24 Liga II
The 2023–24 Liga II is the 84th season of the Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. A total of 20 teams contest the league. It is the eighth Liga II season with a single series. The first two teams will be promoted to Liga I at the end of the season and the third-placed and fourth-placed team will play a play-off match against the 13th-placed and 14th-placed team from Liga I. The last five teams will be relegated to Liga III. The season began on 5 August 2023 and is scheduled to end in June 2024. Liga II
The Liga 2, most often spelled as Liga II, is the second level of the Romanian football league system. The league changed its name from Divizia B just before the start of the 2006–07 Liga II, 2006–07. It is currently Sponsor (commercial), sponsored by Casa Pariurilor, a betting company with the official name Liga 2 Casa Pariurilor. Format Divisions Since its inception in 1934, Liga II had between 2 and 9 parallel divisions, with clubs divided based on geographic regions. Generally, Seria I included eastern teams while Seria II included western sides, although clubs near the center of the country are allowed to choose in which series they will compete. The first six teams from each series participate in a play-off for potential promotion to Liga I. CS Mioveni
Clubul Sportiv Mioveni (; ''Mioveni Sports Club''), commonly known as CS Mioveni, or simply as Mioveni, is a Romanian professional football club based in Mioveni, Argeș County, currently playing in the Liga I. They were founded in 2000 as ''AS Mioveni 2000'' and play their home matches at the Stadionul Orășenesc, which has a capacity of 10,000. History First years and ascension (2000–2011) The club was founded in 2000 under the name ''AS Mioveni'' (Mioveni Sports Association). Stadionul Steaua (2021)
The Steaua Stadium ( ro, Stadionul Steaua), informally also known as Ghencea, is a multi-purpose stadium in Bucharest, Romania. It primarily serves as the home stadium of FCSB and CSA Steaua București, replacing the former venue. The new stadium cost €95 million and is located in the neighbourhood of Ghencea. It seats 31,254 spectators. Notable events The stadium was inaugurated on 7 July 2021, with a match between Steaua and OFK Beograd, the same team with whom they had inaugurated the previous stadium back in 1974. It ended with a 6-0 win for the home team, with Bogdan Chipirliu being the first player to score in the new stadium. CS Corvinul Hunedoara
Clubul Sportiv Corvinul 1921 Hunedoara, commonly known as Corvinul Hunedoara or simply as Corvinul, is a Romanian football club based in Hunedoara, Hunedoara County, currently playing in the Liga III. Founded in 1921 under the name of ''Fero Sport Hunedoara'', the club had over time various names such as ''UF Hunedoara'', ''Iancu Corvin Hunedoara'', ''ISS Hunedoara'', ''IMS Hunedoara'', ''Metalul Hunedoara'', ''Siderurgistul Hunedoara'' or Corvinul Hunedoara. Asociația Fotbal Club Unirea Constanța (), commonly known as Unirea Constanța, was a Romanian football club Unirea was founded in the summer of 2021 by taking over Farul Constanța's berth in the second league; the move was approved after Farul left the spot open as a result of its merger with Liga I side Viitorul Constanța. History Unirea Constanța was established in the summer of 2021 on the ashes of the former Farul Constanța entity, its berth in the league championship remaining unused after the merger between Farul and Viitorul Constanța. Societatea Sportivă Universitară Politehnica Timișoara (), commonly known as SSU Politehnica Timișoara, Politehnica Timișoara, or simply Poli Timișoara, is a Romanian professional football club based in Timișoara, Timiș County, which competes in the Liga II. Originally named ''ASU Politehnica'', the team was formed following the dissolution of the original FC Politehnica Timișoara in 2012. During that year, ACS Recaș was moved to the city and renamed ACS Poli Timișoara, eventually reaching the top flight while ''ASU'' struggled in the lower leagues. Between the two, the majority of the fans chose to support the latter, and in 2021 ACS Poli was also dissolved.
