2023–24 King Cup
The 2023–24 King Cup, or The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, is the 49th edition of the King Cup since its establishment in 1957. The tournament began on 24 September 2023 and will conclude with the final in May 2024. Al-Hilal are the defending champions after winning their tenth title last season. Format changes On 3 March 2023, the SAFF announced that the number of teams in the tournament was increased from 16 to 32. King Cup
The King Cup (sometimes spelled King's), officially known as The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Cup ( ar, كأس خادم الحرمين الشريفين), is the Saudi Arabian football knockout cup competition, run by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. The cup was created in 1957 and was played until 1990. It was re-launched again in 2007 as ''King's Cup of Champions'', and was played by only the top 6 finishers of the Professional League plus the Crown Prince Cup and Federation Cup winners. Since 2014, it was renamed as ''King's Cup'', the competition returned to its roots by implementing the old format. 153 clubs have taken part in the tournament. Al Batin Football Club ( ar, نادي الباطن لكرة القدم) is a Saudi Arabian professional football club based in Hafar al-Batin, Eastern Province, that competes in the Saudi Professional League. Al-Ain Saudi Football Club ( ar, نادي العين السعودي) is a Saudi Arabian professional association football club based in Al Atawlah, Al Qara, Al Bahah. Al-Shabab Football Club ( ar, نادي الشباب), or The Youth Football Club, in English, is a Saudi Arabian professional football club based in Riyadh. It was founded in 1947, and was at first named ''Shabab Al Riyadh''. (), meaning Riyadhi Youth, but in 1967 was renamed ''Al Shabab''. History Al Shabab was the First football club in Riyadh.
