2023–24 DePaul Blue Demons Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 DePaul Blue Demons men's basketball team represented DePaul University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by third-year head coach Tony Stubblefield for the first 18 games of the season. They played their home games at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois, as members of the Big East Conference. They finished the season 3–29, 0–20 in Big East play to finish in last place and with the worst record in franchise history. They lost to Villanova in the first round of the Big East tournament. On January 22, 2024, the school fired head coach Tony Stubblefield after starting the season 3–15. Special assistant to the head coach Matt Brady was named the interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Tony Stubblefield
Anthony Gerard Stubblefield (born March 28, 1970) is an American college basketball coach who is the head men's basketball coach at DePaul University. He was previously an assistant for University of Oregon, University of Cincinnati and New Mexico State University, where he also served as interim head coach during the 2004–2005 season due to Lou Henson's illness. Playing career Stubblefield starred at Broomfield (Colorado) High School and played two seasons at Clinton Community College in Iowa before transferring to Nebraska–Omaha for his final two years of eligibility. He'd serve as team captain his senior season. Coaching career Following graduation, Stubblefield has served as an assistant coach at Omaha, Texas–San Antonio, Texas–Arlington, and New Mexico State. The 2022–23 Seton Hall Pirates men's basketball team represented Seton Hall University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by first-year head coach Shaheen Holloway. Nick Ongenda (born September 29, 2000) is a Canadian professional basketball player for Anwil Włocławek of the Polish Basketball League (PLK). He played college basketball for the DePaul Blue Demons. High school career Ongenda attended the Southwest Christian Academy at Little Rock, Arkansas, averaging 14 points, 12 rebounds, five blocks and three assists for the Lions during his senior season, earning a 2019 NACA All-American selection. College career Ongenda played college basketball at DePaul, averaging 5.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks in 18.8 minutes while shooting at a 52.9 percent clip. Yor Anei (born December 7, 1999) is an American professional basketball player for the Wisconsin Herd of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Oklahoma State Cowboys, the SMU Mustangs and the DePaul Blue Demons.
