2023–24 Blackpool F.C. Season
The 2023–24 season was the 115th season in the history of Blackpool F.C., and their first season back in EFL League One, League One, the third tier of English professional football, since the 2020–21 Blackpool F.C. season, 2020–21 season, following their relegation from the EFL Championship at the end of the 2022–23 Blackpool F.C. season, 2022–23 season. They finished in eighth position in the league table, with 73 points from their 46 games. The club also participated in three cup competitions: they were knocked out of the 2023–24 FA Cup, FA Cup in the third round, knocked out of the 2023–24 EFL Cup, EFL Cup in the second round and knocked out of the 2023–24 EFL Trophy, EFL Trophy in the semi-finals. Jordan Rhodes, on loan from Huddersfield Town A.F.C., Huddersfield Town, was the club's top scorer, with fifteen goals in all competitions. Blackpool is a seaside town in Lancashire, England. It is located on the Irish Sea coast of the Fylde peninsula, approximately north of Liverpool and west of Preston, Lancashire, Preston. It is the main settlement in the Borough of Blackpool, borough of the same name. Blackpool was originally a small hamlet; it began to grow in the mid-eighteenth century, when sea bathing for health purposes became fashionable. Blackpool's beach was suitable for this activity, and by 1781 several hotels had been built. The opening of a railway station in 1846 allowed more visitors to reach the resort, which continued to grow for the remainder of the nineteenth century. In 1876, the town became a borough. Blackpool's development was closely tied to the Lancashire cotton mill, cotton-mill practice of annual factory maintenance shutdowns, known as wakes weeks, when many workers chose to visit the seaside.
