The 2023–24 season was the 136th season in the existence of Blackburn Rovers F.C., Blackburn Rovers Football Club and the club's sixth consecutive season in the Championship. In addition to the 2023–24 EFL Championship, domestic league, they also competed in the 2023–24 FA Cup, FA Cup and the 2023–24 EFL Cup, EFL Cup. The club confirmed Bradley Dack, Ben Brereton Diaz, Daniel Ayala, Danny Butterworth, Dan Pike, Sam Burns (footballer), Sam Burns, Aidan Dowling, George Chmiel, Will Blease & Ryan Wilson will all leave the club when their contracts end on 30 June. Blackburn () is an industrial town and the administrative centre of the Blackburn with Darwen borough in Lancashire, England. The town is north of the West Pennine Moors on the southern edge of the Ribble Valley, east of Preston and north-northwest of Manchester. Daniel Ayala
Daniel Sánchez Ayala (born 7 November 1990) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a defender for club Blackburn Rovers. His first club was Premier League club Liverpool, where he spent two seasons as a reserve. He joined Norwich City in 2011, and joined Middlesbrough on loan in October 2013, before joining the club on a permanent deal in January 2014. He left Middlesbrough on 27 June 2020 after failing to agree a new contract. Matthew Gardiner (born 28 March 1974) is an English former professional footballer. He joined Birmingham City as assistant head coach in July 2022. Playing career Gardiner was born in Birmingham and began his career as an apprentice with Torquay United, turning professional in July 1992. He made his league debut in September the same year, coming on as a substitute for Danis Salman in a 2–0 defeat away to Bury, but left Plainmoor the following summer after making seven league appearances. He joined Shrewsbury Town but failed to make their first team, later playing for non-league side Moor Green, Stourbridge and Halesowen Town. Remy Reynierse (also written as Remy Reijnierse; born 18 June 1961), is a current assistant manager at Blackburn Rovers. He is a former Dutch football manager and former player. As a player, he served EVV Eindhoven (now known as FC Eindhoven) and FC VVV (now known as VVV-Venlo). As a manager, he has coached VVV, the Netherlands women's national football team and several other representative teams of the Royal Dutch Football Association. Joseph Scott Rankin-Costello (born 26 July 1999) is an English professional footballer who plays for club Blackburn Rovers as a defender.
