2023–24 Big Bash League Season
The 2023–24 Big Bash League season or BBL, 13 (also known as KFC Big Bash League 2023 for sponsorship reasons) was the thirteenth season of the Big Bash League (BBL), the professional men's Twenty20 domestic cricket competition in Australia. It started on 7 December 2023 and the final was played on 24 January 2024, with the Brisbane Heat defeating the Sydney Sixers to win their second BBL title. The season was shorter than the previous few seasons, with a total of 44 matches. This was in response to concerns that the previous 61 match season was too long. Cricket Australia (CA), formerly known as the Australian Cricket Board (ACB), is the governing body for professional and amateur cricket in Australia. Hobart Hurricanes
The Hobart Hurricanes are an Australian professional men's T20 franchise cricket team based in Tasmania, Australia. They compete in Australia's domestic T20 cricket competition known as the Big Bash League, which is a league where many international players compete. Their team represents Hobart. The Hurricanes play the majority of their home matches at Blundstone Arena, with additional home matches at the University of Tasmania Stadium in Launceston. Greg Shipperd
Gregory Shipperd (born 13 November 1956) is an Australian cricket coach and former cricketer who is the current coach of the Sydney Sixers coaching them to the Big Bash League title in BBL09 in 2019–20. He was also the coach of Delhi Daredevils. As a player, he represented Western Australia from 1977–78 to 1984–85 and finished his career with Tasmania in 1990–91. He went on to coach Tasmania and Victoria, as well as stints as coach of Twenty-20 cricket franchises Melbourne Stars and Delhi Daredevils. Playing career A right-hand top-order batsman, Shipperd never played a Test or ODI for Australia, but was part of two rebel tours to South Africa in 1985–86, and in 1986–87. Moises Henriques
Moisés Constantino Henriques (; born 1 February 1987) is a Portugal-born Australian professional cricketer who plays for Australia, New South Wales and the Sydney Sixers. An all-rounder, he is the first cricketer born in Portugal to play for Australia in an international match. Under-19s career At 16 years of age, Henriques was selected for the Australian U-19 cricket team's squad for the 2004 U-19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh, where he took 11 wickets at 19.27 and scored 95 runs at 19.00. Adam Voges
Adam Charles Voges (, born 4 October 1979) is an Australian cricket coach and former cricketer who played for the Australian national team at Test, One Day International (ODI), and Twenty20 International (T20I) level, and also captained Western Australia and Perth Scorchers in domestic cricket. Voges' Test match batting average of 61.87 is second behind Don Bradman among batsmen who have finished their career and played a minimum of 20 innings. Voges was included in the 2016 ICC Test Match Team of the Year. Ashton Turner
Ashton James Turner (born 25 January 1993) is an Australian cricketer who debuted for Western Australia during the 2012–13 season, and is also contracted to the Perth Scorchers. From Perth, Turner represented Western Australia at under-15 (schoolboys), under-17 and under-19 level. and captained the under-17 team to their National Championships win. Perth Scorchers
The Perth Scorchers is an Australian domestic Twenty20 franchise cricket team representing the Western Australian city of Perth in the Big Bash League (BBL). The Scorchers are the current BBL Champions, having defeated the Sydney Sixers in the final of the 2021-22 season. They are also the most successful team in BBL history, winning four championships to date and being runners up on three occasions. They were defeated in their second final by the Brisbane Heat in BBL02. Peter Moores (cricketer)
Peter Moores (born 18 December 1962) is an English former first class cricketer who was the head coach of the men's England cricket team. Moores played as a wicketkeeper for Worcestershire and Sussex and captained Sussex in 1997. He retired from playing first-class cricket in 1998 and became the coach of Lancashire County Cricket Club, on 11 February 2009. Moores was a successful coach of Sussex leading the county to the 2003 County Championship. Moores coached England "A" on their tour of the West Indies in 2000–01 and the English National Cricket Academy from October 2005 to 2007. The Melbourne Stars are an Australian Twenty20 franchise cricket team, based in Melbourne, Victoria that competes in Australia's Twenty20 competition, the Big Bash League. David Saker
David James Saker (born 29 May 1966 in Melbourne, Victoria) is an Australian cricket coach and former player who played first-class cricket for the Victorian Bushrangers and then the Tasmanian Tigers later on in his career. He was the fast bowling coach for the Sri Lanka national cricket team. He has been replaced by Chaminda Vaas as the new national fast bowling coach . Nic Maddinson
Nicolas James Maddinson (born 21 December 1991) is an Australian cricketer. He is a left-handed opening batter who has represented Australia in both Test matches and Twenty20 Internationals.
