2023–24 Belgian Cup
The 2023–24 Belgian Cup, called the Croky Cup for sponsorship reasons, is the 69th season of Belgium's annual football cup competition. The competition began on 29 July 2023 and is scheduled to ended with the final on 9 May 2024. The winners qualify for the 2024–25 UEFA Europa League play-off round. Match times up to 29 October 2023 and from 31 March 2024 are CEST (UTC+2). Times on interim ("winter") days were CET (UTC+1). Competition format The competition consists of eleven proper rounds. All rounds are single-match elimination rounds. When tied after 90 minutes in the first four rounds, penalties will be taken immediately. From round five, when tied after 90 minutes first an extra time period of 30 minutes will be played, then penalties are to be taken if still necessary. Teams will enter the competition in different rounds, based upon their 2023–24 league affiliation. URSL Visé
Union Royale Sportive Lixhe Visé, commonly known as URSL Visé, is a Belgian football club based in Visé, Liège Province. The club play their home games at Stade de la Cité de l'Oie. Union Namur, commonly known as UR Namur or Union Royale Namur, is a Belgian football club from the city of Namur. It plays in the third amateur division. The media simply refer to them as "Les merles." Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any).
