2023–24 BYU Cougars Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 BYU Cougars men's basketball team represented Brigham Young University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cougars were led by fifth-year head coach Mark Pope and played their home games at Marriott Center in Provo, Utah as first-year members of the Big 12 Conference. They finished the season 23–11, 10–8 in Big 12 play to finish in a tie for fifth place. As the No. 5 seed in the Big 12 tournament, they defeated UCF in the second round before losing to Texas Tech. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 6 seed in the East region. The Cougars lost in the first round to Duquesne. On April 12, 2024, head coach Mark Pope left the school to take the head coaching position at Kentucky. Mark Pope
Mark Edward Pope (born September 11, 1972) is an American basketball coach and former player who is the nineteenth and current head coach of Brigham Young University's (BYU) men's basketball team. He played college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats, where he was part of the Wildcats 1996 championship team, and the Washington Huskies, where he was the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year. He later played professionally in the National Basketball Association for the Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets. Career Pope was a high school star at Newport High School in Bellevue, Washington and played two years at the University of Washington (UW). He earned Pac-10 Freshman of the Year honors in 1992 after setting a UW freshman single-season record with 8.1 rebounds per game. The Utah Valley Wolverines men's basketball team is the basketball team that represents Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, United States. The 2023 West Coast Conference men's basketball Tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the West Coast Conference for the 2022–23 season. All tournament games were played at Orleans Arena in the Las Vegas-area community of Paradise, Nevada, from March 2–7, 2023. Seeds All 10 conference teams participated in the tournament.
