2023 World Surf League
The 2023 World Surf League is the 46th season of all iterations of the tour circuit for professional surfers. Billabong Pipe Masters will be the first round of the tour. For the third time, the season will end at Lower Trestles, in San Clemente, USA, with the top five seeded men and women from the season going head to head to determine the champion at the WSL Finals. Filipe Toledo and Stephanie Gilmore are the defending champions. The 2023 season will also contribute towards qualification for the 2024 Summer Olympics, where surfing will make its second appearance as an Olympic sport. The top ten surfers in the men's final standings and the top eight surfers in the women's final standings will earn quota places at the Olympics, subject to a maximum of two men and two women per NOC. Surfing At The 2024 Summer Olympics – Qualification
This article details the qualifying phase for surfing at the 2024 Summer Olympics. The competition at these Games will comprise a total of 48 surfers coming from their respective NOCs with a maximum of two to three per gender. All athletes must undergo a qualifying pathway to earn a spot for the Games through three successive editions of the ISA World Surfing Games, the World Surf League Championship Tour, and the Pan American Games. Host nation France has been entitled to use a single quota place each in both men's and women's shortboards. If one or more French surfers directly qualify through any of the tournaments, the host country place(s) shall be reallocated to the next highest-ranked eligible surfer at the 2024 ISA World Surfing Games. Peniche () is a seaside municipality and a city located in the Leiria District of Central Portugal. It has 26,431 inhabitants, in an area of 77.55 km2. Supertubos
Supertubos (Portuguese for ''Supertubes'') is a wave and beach located in Peniche, Portugal. The break is the site of the MEO Pro Portugal from the World Surf League Men's and Women's Championship Tour event. The wave did not come into mainstream international spotlight until the Rip Curl Pro Search Event in 2009. It has been qualified as having 'Totally Epic' quality as a wave. Major surfing competitions The beach hosts every year the MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal, a professional surfing competition, from the World Surf League Men's and Women's Championship Tour. On the tour calendar, this is one out of two European competitions and the tenth out of eleven competitions overall. MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal
MEO Pro Portugal formerly known as ''MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal'', ''Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal'' or ''Rip Curl Pro Portugal'' is a professional surfing competition of the WSL World Tour held every year in October at the Supertubos beach in Peniche, Portugal. The event was first founded in 2009 as ''Rip Curl Search Portugal''. Sunset Beach (Oahu)
Sunset Beach on Oahu's North Shore Sunset Beach is on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii and known for big wave surfing during the winter season. The original Hawaiian name for this place is Paumalū. It is a two-mile (3.3 km) stretch of mostly beige sand located at 59-104 Kamehameha Highway in Pupukea, 39 miles (63 km) driving distance from Waikiki. Lifeguards are usually present. Like many beaches on Oahu's North Shore, Sunset Beach is considered dangerous for inexperienced surfers, due to extensive coral formations near the surface that present the risk of serious injury.
