2023 World Seniors Darts Championship
The 2023 World Seniors Darts Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the 2023 JENNINGSbet World Seniors Darts Championship) was the second World Seniors Darts Championship organised by the World Seniors Darts Tour. It took place at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet between 9 and 12 February 2023. The event was open to players over the age of 50, except current PDC Tour Card holders. The tournament was expanded from 24 to 32 players. Robert Thornton, the defending champion after winning the 2022 inaugural tournament, successfully defended his title to become back to back World Senior Champion. Prize money The prize fund for the event was £80,000, with £30,000 going to the champion. Qualifiers The first players announced to take part in the event were Robert Thornton, Phil Taylor, Martin Adams, John Part, Trina Gulliver and Keith Deller. Circus Tavern
The Circus Tavern is an entertainment venue in Purfleet, Essex, England which hosts functions, cabaret acts and is also a nightclub venue. First opened in 1974, it is most famous as having been a long-time venue of the PDC World Darts Championship. Its capacity is 1100 seated. Darts Championships The Circus Tavern was the venue of the PDC World Darts Championships from its inauguration event in 1994, up until 2007, and broadcast on Sky Sports. Terry Jenkins
Terry Jenkins (born 26 September 1963) is an English former professional darts player who was nicknamed The Bull, having previously used the name "Tucker" for his matches. He reached number three in the world rankings and was a runner-up in nine major PDC televised finals, those being the 2006 and 2007 World Grand Prix, 2007 Premier League, 2007 Las Vegas Desert Classic, 2007 and 2009 World Matchplay, 2008 Grand Slam of Darts, 2014 UK Open and 2014 European Championship. Richard Howson (born 19 December 1965) is an English professional darts player who plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) events. Career In 2011, he played in British Darts Organisation (BDO) tournament World Masters where he beat Scott Mitchell 3 legs to 0 and Paul Hogan whom he beat by 3 legs to 1 before losing in the last 24 to Andrew Gilding of England. He lost in the last 64 of the 2011 UK Open after falling to Michael van Gerwen 9 legs to 2, after beating Stephen Hardy and Tony Ayres. In 2012, Howson won a PDC tour card on the first day of Q School. His best result of 2012 was reaching the quarter-finals of the sixth UK Open Qualifier where he lost 6–2 to Ian White. Leonard Gates
Leonard Gates (born November 26, 1970) is an American professional darts player who competes in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is the current PDC North American champion and 2023 WSDT Champion of Champions winner. He is also a former baseball player, playing for Abilene Prairie Dogs, Massachusetts Mad Dogs, Catskill Cougars and Nashua Pride. Darryl Fitton
Darryl Fitton (born 5 May 1962) is an English professional darts player. He is nicknamed The Dazzler and comes to the stage dancing to the Madness song "One Step Beyond" wearing sunglasses; one of the most popular walk-ons with the audience. Before embarking on a career in darts, Fitton worked as an undertaker. Darts career Fitton's first TV appearance was against Peter Manley in the 1997 PDC World Matchplay. However, he lost 8-6, and has not made another PDC appearance since. Tony O'Shea
Tony O'Shea (born 9 May 1961) is an English professional darts player. His squat figure has resulted in the nickname "Silverback". O'Shea has reached the finals of seven British Darts Organisation (BDO) major darts tournaments, but to date has never won one. He also acts as a regular commentator for televised BDO coverage. Kevin Painter (born 12 July 1967) is an English retired darts player, known as "The Artist". He is arguably most famous for finishing as the runner-up to Phil Taylor in the 2004 PDC World Championship final, now widely credited as one of the greatest televised matches in the history of the sport. Neil Duff (born 22 July 1972) is a Northern Irish professional darts player who plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) events. David Cameron (darts Player)
David Cameron (born 15 September 1969) is a Canadian professional darts player, who mainly competes in the World Darts Federation tournaments. He is the first and сurrent 2022 World Seniors Darts Masters champion and triple Canadian champion. Career Cameron has appeared at the BDO World Darts Championship six times, but hasn't got past the first round in his first five appearances, his only win coming against Jimmy Hendriks in 2017. Larry Thomas Butler (born July 21, 1957), nicknamed The Bald Eagle, is an American professional darts player who was the winner of the 1994 PDC World Matchplay Darts Championship. This success made him the first and so far only American player to have won a major darts tournament in Europe.
