2019 World Rugby Under 20 Championship
The 2019 World Rugby Under 20 Championship was the twelfth edition of the premier age-grade competition for rugby. The tournament was held in Argentina for the second time, having been hosted there in 2010. Defending champions France won the under 20 title again in 2019, defeating Australia in a closely fought final by 24–23 at the Racecourse Stadium in Rosario. The city of Santa Fe also hosted matches in the 2019 championship. 2024 World Rugby Under 20 Championship
The 2024 World Rugby U20 Championship will be the 14th edition of the premier age-grade rugby union competition. The tournament will be hosted in South Africa for the third time, previously being held in 2012 and 2023. The World Rugby U20 Championship 2024 will take place in South Africa from 29 June to 19 July 2024. Played over five match days in the Western Cape regions of Stellenbosch and Cape Town, the U20 Championship features the 12 best U20 nations in the world competing for the world title. 2012 IRB Junior World Championship
The 2012 IRB Junior World Championship was the fifth annual international rugby union competition for Under 20 national teams. This competition replaced the now defunct Under 19 and Under 21 world championships. The event was organised in South Africa between 4 and 22 June 2012 by rugby's governing body, the IRB. A total of 12 nations played in the tournament. New Zealand came into the tournament as defending champions. South Africa were crowned 2012 champions after defeating New Zealand 22 - 16 in the final on the 22 June at Newlands Stadium. After finishing last at the 2011 IRB Junior World Championship, Tonga had been relegated to the IRB Junior World Trophy and therefore didn't participate in this year's event. Wellington is a town in the Western Cape Winelands, a 45-minute drive from Cape Town, in South Africa with a population of approximately 62,000. Danie Craven Stadium
The Danie Craven Stadium is a rugby union stadium in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Built in 1979, it is part of the Stellenbosch University's sport facilities. The stadium was named after rugby doyen and Springbok scrum half Danie Craven. The stadium holds 16,000 people. The stadium was built on a portion of the old Coetsenburg Estate which was founded by Dirk Coetsee in 1682 after a grant of land from the Dutch Governor of the Cape Colony Simon van der Stel. Paarl Gimnasium
Paarl Gimnasium is a public Afrikaans medium co-educational high school situated in the city of Paarl in the Western Cape province of South Africa. History Rev. van der Lingen founded the school in the centre of town in 1858. The school has produced some of South Africa's top rugby players, including Schalk Burger, Jean De Villiers, Marius Joubert, Handré Pollard and De Wet Barry. Other alumni include the theologian Stephanus Jacobus du Toit and politician Liezl van der Merwe. The primary school section of Gimnasium was founded in 1858 as a Dutch Christian school for boys, with the high school being founded much later. Boland Stadium
The Boland Stadium is a stadium in Wellington, Western Cape, South Africa with a capacity of about 11,000 spectators. It is used mostly for rugby union matches by the Boland Cavaliers team in the Currie Cup. South Africa Standard Time
South African Standard Time (SAST) is the time zone used by all of South Africa as well as Eswatini and Lesotho. The zone is two hours ahead of UTC (UTC+02:00) and is the same as Central Africa Time. Daylight saving time is not observed in either time zone. Solar noon in this time zone occurs at 30th meridian east, 30° E in SAST, effectively making Pietermaritzburg at the correct solar noon point, with Johannesburg and Pretoria slightly west at 28th meridian east, 28° E and Durban slightly east at 31st meridian east, 31° E. Thus, most of South Africa's population experience true solar noon at approximately 12:00 daily. The western Northern Cape and Western Cape differ, however.
