2023 ToyotaCare 250
The 2023 ToyotaCare 250 was the 7th stock car race of the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series, the 43rd iteration of the event, and the first race of the Dash 4 Cash. The race was held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, in Richmond, Virginia at Richmond Raceway, a permanent tri-oval shaped racetrack. The race took the scheduled 250 laps to complete. Chandler Smith, driving for Kaulig Racing, would hold off John Hunter Nemechek in the final laps of the race, and earn his first career NASCAR Xfinity Series win. Richmond Raceway (RR) is a , ''D''-shaped, asphalt race track located just outside Richmond, Virginia in unincorporated Henrico County. Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) is an American professional stock car racing organization owned and operated by former Washington Redskins (today the Washington Commanders) coach Joe Gibbs, which first started racing on the NASCAR circuit in 1991. His son, J. D. Gibbs, ran the team with him until his death in 2019. Cole Matthew Custer (born January 23, 1998) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 00 Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing. He previously drove for the team full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series from 2020 to 2022. International Race of Champions (IROC) was a North American auto racing competition, created by Les Richter, Roger Penske and Mike Phelps, promoted as an equivalent of an American motorsports All-Star Game. Despite its name, the IROC was primarily associated with North American, oval-track racing. Drivers raced identically-prepared stock cars set up by a single team of mechanics in an effort to make the race purely a test of driver ability. It was run with a small field of 12 invited drivers. It was created and developed in 1972 by David Lockton, the developer of the Ontario Motor Speedway, launched in 1973, with Mark Donohue being the first driver to win the championship in 1974. Sam A. Mayer (born June 26, 2003) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro for JR Motorsports, a team in which he is also a development driver for through their Drivers Edge Development program. Mayer is the 2019 and 2020 East Series champion.
