2023 Tour Of Slovenia
The 2023 Tour of Slovenia ( sl, Dirka po Sloveniji) was the 29th edition of the Tour of Slovenia stage race, held between 14 and 18 June 2023. The 2.Pro-category race is part of the 2023 UCI ProSeries, UCI ProSeries. The race started in Celje. The tour consisted of five stages, with a total distance of 833.3 km and 9134 m of elevation gain. The total prizemoney was €70,775. Tadej Pogačar was to compete for but skipped the race due to a wrist injury. Two favourites for victory were Domen Novak and Diego Ulissi (winner of 2011 & 2019 Tour of Slovenia, 2019 edition), both from , who won the last three Tours of Slovenia (2019, 2020, 2021). The race was decided on the last two stages, with two ascents of Kolovrat (mountain ridge), Kolovrat (Stage 4) and the last climb to Trška Gora, Novo Mesto, Trška Gora (Stage 5) before the finish. 2023 UCI ProSeries
The 2023 UCI ProSeries is the fourth season of the UCI ProSeries, the second tier road bicycle racing, road cycling tour, below the UCI World Tour, but above the various regional UCI Continental Circuits. The calendar consists of 57 events, of which 33 are one-day races (1.Pro), and 24 are stage races (2.Pro). There are 49 events in Europe, six in Asia, one in the United States, and one in Argentina. Trška Gora, Novo Mesto
Trška Gora () is a settlement on Mount Trška Gora north of Novo Mesto in southeastern Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region. The local church, built on top of Mount Trška Gora in the northern part of the settlement, is dedicated to the Nativity of Mary and belongs to the Parish of Šentpeter–Otočec. It was built in 1621 on the site of an earlier church. Two of the paintings in the church are the work of Josip Egartner. Shortly after the church was built, four linden trees were planted beside it. Ormož (; in older sources , hu, Ormosd, german: Friedau, Prekmurje Slovene: ''Ormošd'') is a town in the traditional region of Prlekija, part of Styria, in northeastern Slovenia. It lies on the left bank of the Drava River and borders with Croatia on the opposite bank of the river. It is the administrative seat of the Municipality of Ormož. Dylan Groenewegen
Dylan Groenewegen (born 21 June 1993) is a Dutch professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He has won five individual Tour de France stages and one team time trial stage. He has also won the Dutch National Road Race Championships, five stages of the Tour of Norway, five stages of the Tour of Britain and three stages of Paris-Nice. In 2020, Groenewegen received considerable attention for causing a serious crash at the Tour de Pologne, which put Fabio Jakobsen in hospital, and for which Groenewegen received a nine-month ban from racing.
