2023 Speedway European Championship
The 2023 Speedway European Championship season was the 11th season of the Speedway European Championship (SEC) era, and the 23rd UEM Individual Speedway European Championship. It was the 10th series under the promotion of Polish company One Sport Lts. Danish rider Mikkel Michelsen won the Championship for the third time. Qualification For the 2023 season, 15 permanent riders were joined at each SEC Final by one wildcard and two track reserves. Defending champion, Leon Madsen from Denmark was automatically invited to participate in all final events, while Janusz Kołodziej, Mikkel Michelsen, Patryk Dudek and Dominik Kubera secured their participation in all final events thanks to being in the top five of the general classification in the 2022 season. Mikkel Michelsen
Mikkel Michelsen (born 19 August 1994) is a Danish speedway rider. Szymon Woźniak
Szymon Woźniak (born 6 May 1993) is a Polish speedway rider. Career He rode for his hometown club, Polonia Bydgoszcz in the Speedway Ekstraliga up to 2015 before moving to Sparta Wrocław for the 2016 season. He rode for the Poland U-21 national team and won the Polish Under-21 Championship in 2014. He was part of the Leicester Lions team in the British Elite League in 2015 and 2016. In 2017 he won the Polish Championship, beating Przemyslaw Pawlicki, Patryk Dudek, and Jaroslaw Hampel in the final. Personal life Woźniak has one older brother. 2022 Speedway European Championship
The 2022 Speedway European Championship season was the 10th season of the Speedway European Championship (SEC) era, and the 22nd UEM Individual Speedway European Championship. It was the ninth series under the promotion of One Sport Lts. of Poland. Mikkel Michelsen was the defending champion having won the title in 2021. The title was won by Denmark's Leon Madsen after he overtook former series leader Janusz Kołodziej in the final round to win by just one point. It was the second time Madsen won the title after claiming the championship in 2018. Jacob Thorssell (born 24 July 1993) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Sweden. He is a two times Swedish national champion. Career Thorssell joined Wolverhampton Wolves in the Elite League for the 2012 season, as a replacement for Pontus Aspgren who had picked up an injury. After impressing at Wolves, Thorssell was announced in the permanent line-up for the 2013 season. After continuing to impress in 2013 and also in 2014 Thorssell made the step up to being one of Wolverhampton's three heat leaders for the 2015 season, and was the first rider to be announced in their team. Timo Lahti
Timo Lahti (born 16 July 1992) is a speedway rider from Finland. Career Lahti started his British career riding for the Eastbourne Eagles in 2011. He became the national champion of Finland after winning the Finnish Individual Speedway Championship in 2012. After a total of four seasons at Eastbourne he left after the 2014 season. He won a further five national championships from 2015 to 2019 consecutively before being deposed by Tero Aarnio. Before the 2017 win he had returned to British speedway by riding in the top tier for the Poole Pirates in the SGB Premiership 2017.
