2023 Six-red World Championship
The 2023 Pathum Thani Six-red World Championship was a non-ranking six-red snooker tournament held from 6 to 11 March 2023 at the Thammasat University Convention Centre in Pathum Thani, Thailand. The event was originally scheduled for September 2022, but was postponed until March 2023. A qualification round was played prior to the tournament with four players qualifying to the 32 player field. Stephen Maguire was the defending champion, having won the previous championship in September 2019, but he was eliminated in the group stage. Ding Junhui won the event for the second time, beating Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 8–6 in the final. John Higgins
John Higgins, (born 18 May 1975) is a Scottish professional snooker player. He has won 31 career ranking titles, placing him in third position on the all-time list of ranking event winners, behind Ronnie O'Sullivan (39) and Stephen Hendry (36). Since turning professional in 1992, he has won four World Championships, three UK Championships, and two Masters titles for a total of nine Triple Crown titles, putting him on a par with Mark Selby and behind only O'Sullivan (21), Hendry (18) and Steve Davis (15). A prolific break-builder, he has compiled over 900 century breaks and 12 maximum breaks in professional tournaments, in both cases second only to O'Sullivan (who has compiled over 1,100 centuries and 15 maximums). Akani Songsermsawad (; born 10 September 1995), better known as Sunny Akani, is a Thai former professional snooker player. Career Early career Akani, a regular in amateur Thai snooker events since 2011, first came to international attention with a 5–2 win over professional Matthew Selt in the Six-red World Championship, in 2008. 2015–2017 In 2015 he won the ACBS Asian Under-21 Snooker Championship, beating Yuan Sijun 6–4 in the final and as a result was given a two-year card on the professional World Snooker Tour for the 2015–16 and 2016–17 seasons. Andres Petrov
Andres Petrov (born 15 October 1996) is an Estonian professional snooker player. He is the first professional snooker player from Estonia. Petrov turned professional at the start of the 2022/23 season after winning the EBSA European Snooker Championship. Early life and education Petrov was born in Tallinn. His father, Boriss Petrov, is a youth ice hockey coach. Petrov graduated from Tallinn High School of Humanities in 2015 and from Tallinn University, with a degree in youth work in 2018. Mark Williams (snooker Player)
Mark James Williams (born 21 March 1975) is a Welsh professional snooker player who is a three-time World Champion, winning in 2000, 2003 and 2018. Often noted for his single-ball long potting ability, Williams has earned the nickname "The Welsh Potting Machine". Williams turned professional in 1992 and has been ranked the world number one player three times ( 1999–00, 2000–01 and 2002–03). His most successful season to date was 2002–03, when he won the Triple Crown: the UK Championship, the Masters and the World Championship. Joe Perry (snooker Player)
Joe Perry (born 13 August 1974) is an English professional snooker player from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Often referred to as "the Fen Potter" and also nicknamed "the Gentleman", Perry climbed the rankings steadily after turning professional in 1992 and reached the Top 16 for the first time in 2002. His first ranking final came at the 2001 European Open and he had to wait another 13 years for a second which came at the 2014 Wuxi Classic. Robert Milkins
Robert Milkins (born 6 March 1976) is an English professional snooker player. Considered one of the most naturally talented and quickest players in the game, Milkins has been a mainstay on the tour since regaining his tour card in 1998. Milkins reached a career high rank of 12 in 2014 and has been in and around the worlds top 32 for two decades. After 27 years as a professional, he won his first ranking title at the 2022 Gibraltar Open. Dechawat Poomjaeng ( ''Dechāwạt Phùmcæ̂ng'', born July 11, 1978) is a Thai professional snooker player. Career Early career He won the 2010 IBSF World Snooker Championship in Damascus, Syria, defeating India's Pankaj Advani 10–7 in the final. This earned him a place on the professional Main Tour for the 2011–12 season. Chris Wakelin
Chris Wakelin (born 16 March 1992) is an English professional snooker player from Rugby, Warwickshire. He practices in Bar 8 in Rugby. Career Early career Wakelin started playing snooker aged 8, when his parents Mark and Angie bought him his first mini snooker table, and by the time he was 11 he was successfully playing in the local league. However, his career nearly came to a halt at the age of 17 when he had to start working full-time as an ASDA delivery driver to support himself financially, and only played snooker as a hobby. Kritsanut Lertsattayathorn (; born 16 December 1988 in Bangkok, Thailand) is a Thai snooker player. He was the Asian Snooker Champion in 2016. Career At the 2014 Six-red World Championship Lertsattayathorn defeated defending champion Mark Davis in the last 16 before being defeated 7–2 eventual winner Stephen Maguire in the semi-final. In 2016 Lertsattayathorn entered the Asian Snooker Championship in Doha as the 13th seed. Lertsattayathorn went on to reach the final and defeated Mohammed Shehab 8–2 to win the championship, as a result he was given a two-year card on the professional World Snooker Tour for the 2016–17 and 2017–18. Ma Hai Long
Ma Hailong (; born 4 September 2003) is a snooker player from China. In February 2023, he won the 2023 World Snooker Federation Championship, and with it earned a two-year card on the World Snooker Tour. Early life At the age of thirteen, Ma Hailong took six months out of school in order to travel the 1000 miles from his home to train at the CBSA World Snooker Academy in Beijing. Career In January 2023, at the Guangzhou Snooker Championship, Ma Hailong defeated Jiang Jun in the final to win the championship. Ricky Walden
Ricky Walden (born 11 November 1982) is an English professional snooker player from Chester. Walden turned professional in 2000 and it took him eight years to win his first ranking title at the Shanghai Masters. He has since won the 2012 Wuxi Classic and the 2014 International Championship and has been inside the top 16 in the season-ending rankings on four occasions.
