2023 Serbian Protests
In May 2023, a series of mass protests began in Belgrade and other locations in Serbia, following Belgrade school shooting, a school shooting in Belgrade and Mladenovac and Smederevo shootings, a spree shooting near Mladenovac and Smederevo. The protests, named Serbia Against Violence ( sr-cyr, Србија против насиља, Srbija protiv nasilja), had been attended by tens of thousands of demonstrators on every protest since 8 May. Despite being organised by the Democratic Party (Serbia), Democratic Party, Do not let Belgrade drown/Green–Left Front, Party of Freedom and Justice, People's Party (Serbia, 2017), People's Party and Together (Serbia), Together opposition parties, no party signs were reported to be seen at the protests. The Party of Freedom and Justice ( sr, Странка слободе и правде, Stranka slobode i pravde, SSP) is a social-democratic political party in Serbia. It is led by Dragan Đilas. The third cabinet of Ana Brnabić was formed on 26 October 2022, following the latter's election as prime minister of Serbia by the National Assembly on the same day. It succeeded the second cabinet of Ana Brnabić and is the incumbent government of Serbia since 26 October 2022. The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) came to power in 2012. Ana Brnabić ( sr-cyr, Ана Брнабић, ; born 28 September 1975) is a Serbian politician serving as the prime minister of Serbia since 2017. She is the first woman and first openly gay person to hold the office.
