2023 Serbian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Serbia on 17 December 2023 to elect members of the National Assembly (Serbia), National Assembly. While they were initially scheduled to be held by 30 April 2026, Aleksandar Vučić, the president of Serbia, called a snap election in November 2023. In addition to the parliamentary elections, the 2023 Vojvodina provincial election, Vojvodina provincial and 2023 Serbian local elections, local elections were held in 65 cities and municipalities, including the capital, 2023 Belgrade City Assembly election, Belgrade. The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) came to power after the 2012 Serbian parliamentary election, 2012 election when it formed a coalition government with the Socialist Party of Serbia. 2022 Serbian General Election
General elections were held in Serbia on 3 April 2022 to elect both the president and members of the National Assembly. Initially, parliamentary elections were scheduled to be held in 2024; however, in October 2020 president Aleksandar Vučić stated that snap parliamentary elections would be held in or before April 2022. In addition to the general elections, local elections were held simultaneously in 12 municipalities and 2 cities, including Belgrade. The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) came to power in 2012 after forming a government with the Socialist Party of Serbia. They won a supermajority of seats following the 2020 parliamentary election, which was boycotted by the major opposition Alliance for Serbia that claimed that "the election would not be free and fair". Usame Zukorlić
Usame Zukorlić ( sr-cyrl, Усаме Зукорлић; born 1992) is a Serbian politician and economist serving as a member of the National Assembly since 1 August 2022. An ethnic Bosniak, he has been the president of the Justice and Reconciliation Party since 2021. Early life Zukorlić was born in Constantine, Algeria in 1992. His father was a Bosniak mufti and politician Muamer Zukorlić, while his mother is an Arab from Algeria.He attended primary and secondary school in Novi Pazar, and later studied at the International University, where he obtained his master's degree in economics, and Faculty of Islamic Studies. Career Zukorlić has been the member of the Justice and Reconciliation Party, previously known as Bosniak Democratic Union of Sandžak, since the early 2010s. 2023 Vojvodina Provincial Election
Provincial elections were held in Vojvodina on 17 December 2023 to elect members of the Assembly of Vojvodina. Initially scheduled to be held by 30 June 2024, the possibility of calling a snap election was discussed in 2023. The Assembly dissolved itself on 16 November 2023, setting the election date for 17 December. It was concurrently held with the 2023 Serbian parliamentary election, parliamentary and 2023 Serbian local elections, local elections in 65 cities and municipalities in Serbia. The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), which came to power in Vojvodina in 2016, won a supermajority of seats in the 2020 Vojvodina provincial election, 2020 election due to the election boycott that was proclaimed by most opposition parties, including Alliance for Serbia which claimed that the election would not be free and fair.
