2023 Scottish League Cup Final (February)
The 2022–23 Scottish League Cup Final was an association football match that took place at Hampden Park, Glasgow on 26 February 2023. It was the final match of the 2022–23 Scottish League Cup, the 77th season of the Scottish League Cup (known as the Viaplay Cup for sponsorship reasons), a competition for the 42 teams in the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL). The Old Firm clubs, Rangers and Celtic, contested the final between each other for a 16th time, with Celtic having won the most recent meeting in 2019. Celtic were the cup holders, having defeated Hibernian 2–1 in the December 2021 final. Rangers last won the competition in 2011. The 2022–23 Scottish League Cup group stage was played from 9 July to 24 July 2022. A total of 40 teams competed in the group stage. The winners of each of the eight groups, as well as the three best runners-up progressed to the second round (last 16) of the 2022–23 Scottish League Cup. Allan McGregor
Allan James McGregor (born 31 January 1982) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Scottish Premiership club Rangers. McGregor has also previously played for St Johnstone, Dunfermline Athletic, Turkish team Beşiktaş, English club Hull City, Welsh side Cardiff City and the Scotland national team. Alfredo José Morelos Aviléz (born 21 June 1996) is a Colombian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Scottish Premiership club Rangers and the Colombia national team. Fir Park Stadium is a football stadium situated in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. The stadium plays host to the home matches of Scottish Premiership club Motherwell and was the temporary home of Gretna for the 2007–08 SPL season. Motherwell moved to the stadium in 1895, previously playing their football at Dalziel Park. History and facilities Motherwell F.C. was formed in 1886. It played at sites on Roman Road and Dalziel Park until 1895, when Fir Park was opened.
