2023 Punjab Provincial Election
Provincial elections are scheduled to be held in Punjab within 90 days after the early dissolution of the Provincial Assembly, which is set to dissolve by or before 14 January 2023. This means that the election must be held no later than 14 April 2023. Electoral system The 371 seats of the Punjab Assembly consist of 297 general seats, whose members are elected by the first-past-the-post voting system through single-member constituencies. 66 seats are reserved for women and 8 seats are reserved for non-Muslims. Pakistan Democratic Movement
The Pakistan Democratic Movement ( ur, پاکستان ڈیموکریٹک موومنٹ), or PDM, is a coalition of political parties in Pakistan. It was founded in September 2020 as a movement against then prime minister Imran Khan, accusing his regime of poor governance, political victimisation of opponents, and mismanaging the economy and foreign policy. The struggle was also joined by several dissident members of Khan's own party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). A snap election is an election that is called earlier than the one that has been scheduled. Generally, a snap election in a parliamentary system (the dissolution of parliament) is called to capitalize on an unusual electoral opportunity or to decide a pressing issue, under circumstances when an election is not required by law or convention. Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan
Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (; TLP) is a far-right Islamic extremist political party in Pakistan. The party was founded by Khadim Hussain Rizvi in August 2015. It became the fifth largest party at the 2018 Pakistani general election, but failed to win any seat in the National Assembly or the Punjab Assembly. However, it was successful in gaining three seats in the Sindh Assembly. Tehreek-e-Labbaik is known for its protests in opposition to any change to Pakistan's blasphemy law.
