2023 Pan American Racquetball Championships
The 2023 Pan American Championships were held in Guatemala City, Guatemala, April 1–8. Bolivian Conrrado Moscoso won Men's Singles for the second consecutive year, and Montserrat Mejia won Women's Singles for the first time. Moscoso's win was the fourth consecutive Bolivian gold in Men's Singles, as Carlos Keller won the two events prior to Moscoso. Mejia is the second Mexican woman to win Women's Singles after Paola Longoria. Mejia also won Women's Doubles with Alexandra Herrera, with fellow Mexicans Rodrigo Montoya and Eduardo Portillo winning Men's Doubles. Meija is the 3rd women to win both Women's Singles and Doubles in the same year after Longoria (4 times) and American Rhonda Rajsich (once). Moscoso won the Mixed Doubles title with Angélica Barrios, so he is the first player to win singles, doubles and mixed doubles at the Pan American Championships. María José Vargas (born March 18, 1993) is a Bolivian-born Argentine racquetball player. She is the current Pan American Champion in Women's Doubles, as well as part of the Women's Team Pan Am Champions and the current South American Racquetball Champion in Women's Singles and Doubles. Carla Muñoz
Carla Muñoz Montesinos (born February 12, 1992) is a Chilean professional racquetball player. She has won multiple medals, including the three consecutive gold medals in the USA Racquetball National Intercollegiate Championships in 2016, 2017, and 2018. In 2014, Munoz was awarded Best Racquetball Player of the Year by the Chilean Journalist Association. She plays for the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour and is currently ranked #10 in the world. In 2016, Muñoz received a two-year scholarship to attend Colorado State University Pueblo to finish her degree in Business and Accounting, and to play for their nationally-ranked racquetball program. Coby Iwaasa
Coby Iwaasa (born June 19, 1996) is a Canadian racquetball player. He is the 2022 Pan American Champion in Men's Doubles (with Samuel Murray), and was a bronze medalist at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto. Junior years Iwaasa was a prodigious player as a junior, winning several Canadian Junior National Championships (Junior Nationals), including four Boy's U18 titles, which is a record. In Boys' Singles, he won U10 in 2007, Boy's U12 in 2009, and Boy's U14 in 2011. In 2012 and 2013, Iwaasa won both Boy's U16 and Boy's U18 at Junior Nationals. Andree Parrilla (born July 23, 1996) is a Mexican racquetball player. He has won twice on the International Racquetball Tour, and represented Mexico at international competitions. Junior years – Success at World Juniors Parrilla played Boys U14 Singles at the 2011 International Racquetball Federation (IRF) World Junior Championships in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where he lost in the quarterfinals to Bolivia's Marcelo Vargas, 15–11, 15–14. Samuel Murray (racquetball)
Samuel Murray (born June 4, 1993) is a Canadian racquetball player. He is the current Canadian Champion in Men's Singles, winning the title for a fifth time in 2023. Murray was the 2022 Pan American Champion in Men's Doubles (with Coby Iwaasa),. He became the 2nd Canadian (after Kane Waselenchuk) to win a Tier 1 or Grand Slam event on the International Racquetball Tour in January 2021, when he won the Suivant Consulting Pro-Am in Lilburn, Georgia. His career high IRT ranking is #3 at the end of the 2021. Junior years Murray competed at the Canadian Junior National Championships on several occasions, winning six championships: three in singles and three in doubles. Michelle Key (born August 18, 1988) is an American racquetball player. Key represented the USA at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, where she was part of the silver medal winning Women's Team. Key was ranked 7th at the end of the 2014-15 Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) season. Racquetball Key is a right handed player. Competing at the 2006 International Racquetball World Junior Championships in Arizona, Key won her age group in the singles event. Key also participated in the 3 Wallball World Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2014. Diego Garcia (racquetball)
Diego Garcia is an island of the British Indian Ocean Territory, a disputed overseas territory of the United Kingdom also claimed by Mauritius. It is a militarised atoll just south of the equator in the central Indian Ocean, and the largest of the 60 small islands of the Chagos Archipelago. Portuguese sailors under Pedro Mascarenhas were the first Europeans to discover the island, finding it uninhabited in 1512. After a 1786 British colony failed, the French began using the island as a leper colony and, starting in 1793, coconut cultivation by enslaved labor.
