2023 PSA Men's World Squash Championship
The 2023 PSA Men's World Squash Championship was the 2023 men's edition of the World Squash Championships, which served as the individual world championship for squash players. The event took place in Chicago, United States from 3 to 11 May 2023. It was the third time that Chicago hosted the PSA World Championships after 2018–19 & 2020–21 editions. Seeded Nº3 Ali Farag defeated unseeded Karim Abdel Gawad for the World Championship title. Gawad became the first unseeded player to reach the final since Rodney Martin in 1991. It was Farag's fourth World Championship title, having previously won in 2019, 2021 and 2022. World ranking points/prize money PSA also awards points towards World ranking. Points are awarded as follows: Prize money breakdown Total prize money for the tournament is $1,000,000, $500,000 per gender. Diego Elías (born November 19, 1996 in Lima) is a squash player who represents Peru. He reached a career-high world ranking of No. 4 in July 2022. His accomplishments include winning World Junior Championships twice, British Junior Open Twice, and winning the US Junior Open in Boys' U15, U17, and U19. Saurav Ghosal (born 10 August 1986, in Kolkata, West Bengal) is a professional squash player from India and reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 10 in April 2019. He completed his schooling at Lakshmipat Singhania Academy in Kolkata. Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Forero (born December 20, 1985 in Bogotá), known as Miguel Rodríguez, is a professional male squash player who represents Colombia. Joel Makin (, born 27 October 1994) is a Welsh professional squash player. Makin was born in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. He played squash at Aberdare Junior Squash Club under coaches Bob Gould, Clive Roberts and Dave Cope, and represented Wales at Under-13s level in 2007. He left Aberdare at 18 and, forgoing university, trained at West Warwickshire Club under the guidance of Rob Owen. Mazen Hesham (born 29 March 1994 in Cairo) is a professional squash player who represents Egypt. He reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 8 in March 2022. Career Hesham first became prominent in 2012, when he secured third place in the WSF junior championships in Doha. Following this victory he joined the PSA world Tour.
