The 2023 Orlando City SC season was the club's 13th season of existence in Orlando and ninth season as a Major League Soccer franchise, the top-flight league in the United States soccer league system. Orlando also played in three other competitions: the U.S. Open Cup as defending champions, Leagues Cup, as well as the CONCACAF Champions League for the first time. Season review Pre-season Orlando made its first offseason move on November 9, trading $300,000 in general allocation money plus potential future add-ons to Toronto FC in exchange for Luca Petrasso. A day later it was announced Júnior Urso and the club had agreed to mutually terminate his contract so he could return to Brazil due to personal circumstances. Orlando City SC is an American professional soccer club in Orlando, Florida, that competes as a member of the Eastern Conference in Major League Soccer (MLS). Orlando City SC began play in 2015 as the 21st franchise in MLS, succeeding the USL Pro team of the same name. In doing so they became the first MLS team in Florida since Miami Fusion and Tampa Bay Mutiny both folded following the 2001 season. 2024 Orlando City SC Season
The 2024 Orlando City SC season is the club's 14th season of existence in Orlando and 10th season as a Major League Soccer franchise, the top-flight league in the United States soccer league system. Orlando will also play in two other competitions: the Leagues Cup and the CONCACAF Champions Cup. As a result of a decision by Major League Soccer, Orlando City did not contest the U.S. Open Cup for the first time in club history. In December 2023, head coach Óscar Pareja signed a two-year contract extension through 2025. Executives Luiz Muzzi and Ricardo Moreira also signed new two-year contracts in February 2024. After four-and-a-half seasons under the Exploria sponsorship name, Orlando City's home stadium was rebranded as Inter&Co Stadium ahead of the 2024 season. Allocation Money
Allocation money, in Major League Soccer, represents an amount of money that teams may use to sign players and/or allocate to their salaries to get under the salary cap. Wilder José Cartagena Mendoza (born 23 September 1994) is a Peruvian footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Orlando City of Major League Soccer, on loan from Emirati club Ittihad Kalba, and the Peru national team. Alexandre Rodrigues da Silva (; born 2 September 1989), commonly known as Alexandre Pato () or just Pato, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a striker. Christopher Matthew Mueller (born August 29, 1996) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a winger for Major League Soccer club Chicago Fire and the United States national team. Tesho Akindele
Tesho Akindele (born March 31, 1992) is a Canadian former professional soccer player. Club career Early career Tesho Akindele was born in Canada to a Nigerian father and a Canadian mother and moved with his family to the US at the age of eight. He grew up in Thornton, Colorado, and was a standout for Northglenn High School, turning down an offer to join the Colorado Rapids academy at the age of 17 to focus on academics. The CONCACAF Champions League, known officially as the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League for sponsorship reasons, is an annual continental club football competition organized by CONCACAF.
