2023 Lazio Regional Election
The 2023 Lazio regional election took place on 12 and 13 February 2023. It was held concurrently with the 2023 Lombard regional election, as decided by the Italian government on 9 December 2022. On 12 October 2022, the president of Lazio Nicola Zingaretti decided to step down, having been elected to the national parliament. The election saw the Centre-right coalition (Italy), centre-right coalition win with a majority of the popular vote, gaining a 11-seat majority and taking control of the Regional Council of Lazio for the first time since the 2010 Lazio regional election. Electoral system The Regional Council of Lazio is elected with a mixed system: 39 councilmembers are chosen with a form of proportional representation using a largest remainder method with open lists, while 11 councilmembers are elected with a plurality-at-large voting system with closed lists. Regional Council Of Lazio
The Regional Council of Lazio (''Consiglio Regionale del Lazio'') is the legislative assembly of Lazio. It was first elected in 1970, when the ordinary regions were instituted, on the basis of the Constitution of Italy of 1948. Composition The Regional Council of Lazio was originally composed of 60 regional councillors. The number of regional councillors increased to 70 in the 2005 regional election. Following the decree-law n. 138 of 13 August 2011, the number of regional councillors was reduced to 50, with an additional seat reserved for the President of the Region. Plurality block voting, also known as plurality-at-large voting, block vote or block voting (BV) is a non- proportional voting system for electing representatives in multi-winner elections. Each voter may cast as many votes as the number of seats to be filled. Solidary Democracy
Solidary Democracy ( it, Democrazia Solidale, DemoS) is a Christian-leftist political party in Italy. The party's early leader, Lorenzo Dellai has described it as a " Christian-social" party. Volt Italy
Volt Italy (in Italian: ''Volt Italia'') is an Eurofederalist political party in Italy. It is an affiliate of Volt Europa and was founded in 2018. Volt was unable to take part in the 2019 European Parliament election in Italy, failing to obtain the required 150,000 notarised supporter signatures.
