2023 Korean Tour
The 2023 Korean Tour was the 46th season on the Korean Tour, the main professional golf tour in South Korea since it was formed in 1978. European Tour strategic alliance extension Following the strategic alliance partnership signed with the European Tour in December 2022, the season marked the inaugural edition of the Korea Championship, the first time the Korean Tour had co-sanctioned an event with the European Tour since 2013. Following the conclusion of the event, a new extension to the strategic alliance was announced in May by the European Tour. As part of the extension, an additional two players (three in total) from the Korean Tour Order of Merit were awarded European Tour status for the following season. 2023 European Tour
The 2023 European Tour, titled as the 2023 DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons, is the 52nd season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972. It is the second season of the tour under a title sponsorship agreement with DP World, that was announced in November 2021. In September 2022, the opening six events of the 2023 season were announced; they were all co-sanctioned events, four with the South Africa-based Sunshine Tour and two with the PGA Tour of Australasia, and were scheduled for late 2022. Changes for 2023 Player Earnings Assurance Programme In November 2022, alongside the schedule release, the tour announced that they would introduce a "Player Earnings Assurance Programme", which would guarantee minimum earnings of US$150,000 for all exempt players from categories 1–17 if they competed in at least 15 tournaments. KPGA Championship
The KPGA Championship is a men's professional golf tournament that has been held annually in South Korea since 1958. Together with the Korea Open it is the longest running event on the Korean Tour. It is organised by the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA). Since 2016 the total purse has been KRW1,000,000,000 with KRW200,000,000 to the winner. The Descente Korea Munsingwear Matchplay is an annual professional golf tournament hosted in South Korea and sponsored by the clothing company Munsingwear. The tournament has been held since 2010 and is part of the Korean Tour for men. Prize money was ₩400,000,000 in 2010 and 2011, ₩600,000,000 in 2012 and 2013, ₩800,000,000 from 2014 to 2016 and ₩1,000,000,000 in 2017 to 2019. The event was not held in 2020 but returned in 2021 with reduced prize money of ₩800,000,000. From 2010 to 2013 and in 2015 the event was played towards the end of season, in September or October. In 2014 it was played in May while from 2016 to 2019 it was played in June. Originally 64 players qualified to play 6 rounds of 18-hole match-play over 3 days. The SK Telecom Open is an annual professional golf tournament hosted in South Korea and sponsored by the Korean cell phone company SK Telecom. The tournament was inaugurated in June 1997 as "SK Telecom Classic", and renamed in 2001. It is part of the Korean Tour for men, and was co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour from 2001 to 2007. It was co-sanctioned by the OneAsia Tour from 2010 to 2015. Since 2017 it has had prize money of ₩1,200,000,000. The tenth edition, held 4–7 May 2006, was shortened to 54 holes because of rain.
