2023 Kate Sheppard Cup
The 2023 Kate Sheppard Cup is New Zealand's women's 29th annual knockout football competition. This is the fifth year that the competition is known by the Kate Sheppard Cup, or ''New Zealand Football Foundation Kate Sheppard Cup'' for sponsorship purposes, after previously been known as the Women's Knockout Cup since its establishment. The cup has had thirteen different winners lift the trophy over its 28-year history with Lynn-Avon United from Auckland being the most successful and Auckland United being the current holders from the 2022 season. The 2023 competition has four rounds before quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final. Competition will run in three regions (northern, central/capital, southern) until the quarter-finals, from which stage the draw will be open. In all, 57 teams entered the competition this year. Auckland United Football Club is an amateur football club based in Mount Roskill, New Zealand. Formed in 2020 as an amalgamation between Onehunga Sports and Three Kings United, Auckland United currently competes in the Northern League, one of three qualifying leagues for the New Zealand National League and New Zealand Women's National League. FC Nelson is a football club, based in the South Island city of Nelson, their home ground is Guppy Park. Kiwitea Street, also known as Freyberg Field, is a multi-purpose stadium in the suburb of Sandringham in Auckland, New Zealand. Tauranga City AFC is a football club based in Tauranga, New Zealand. The men's and women's teams currently both compete in the NRFL Championship. Club history Tauranga City AFC was formed in 1964, in 2000 they changed their name to Tauranga City United when Mt Maunganui AFC folded and the Tauranga City Council relocated the club to the formers ground at Links Avenue, Mt Maunganui.
