2023 Itzulia Women
The 2023 Itzulia Women was a Spanish women's cycle stage race that was held in the Basque Country from 12 to 14 May 2023. The 2023 edition of the race was the second running of Itzulia Women, being held as part of the 2023 UCI Women's World Tour. The race was won by Swiss rider Marlen Reusser of SD Worx. The SD Worx team dominated the event, winning 4 of the 5 classifications. Route The race uses the hilly landscape of the Basque Country, with seven categorised climbs over the 3 stages, including the famed Jaizkibel climb (7.9 km at 5.6%) used in the Clásica de San Sebastián. Summary Prior to the race, the 2023 La Vuelta Femenina was fought between Demi Vollering of SD Worx and Annemiek van Vleuten of Movistar Team. 2023 UCI Women's World Tour
The 2023 UCI Women's World Tour is a competition that includes twenty-seven road cycling events throughout the 2023 women's cycling season. It is the eighth edition of the UCI Women's World Tour, the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2016. The competition began with the Women's Tour Down Under from 15 to 17 January, and will finish with the Tour of Guangxi on 17 October. Events The race calendar for the 2023 season was announced in June 2022, with thirty races initially scheduled, up from twenty-three that were held in 2022. The calendar features several new races including the Women's Tour Down Under, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and La Vuelta Femenina. Amurrio is a town and municipality located in the northwest part of the province of Álava, in the Basque Country, northern Spain. It has over 10,000 inhabitants. It is between Vitoria-Gasteiz and Bilbao, respectively to 41 km and 31 km. Young rider classification (french: classement général des jeunes) is a cycling jersey competition in multi-day stage race events, such as the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia and many others, which awards the current leader by overall time for riders below the age of twenty-six years (or twenty-three years) depending on the race rules. At the Tour Down Under recipients are aged under twenty-six. Recipients are commonly known as the Best young rider. In stage racing, the fastest overall time of all riders below the age limit is awarded the cycling jersey, often the jersey color is white, in the same fashion the fastest time of all riders (regardless of age) is awarded in the general classification. King Of The Mountains
The King of the Mountains (KoM) is an award given to the best climbing specialist in a men's cycling road race; in women's cycle racing, Queen of the Mountains (QoM) is used. While the title may be given to the rider who achieves the highest position over several designated climbs in a single-day road race, it is more usually applied to stage races (for example, the Grand Tours, Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta a España, and smaller races like the Tour of California) where points are accumulated over the duration of the whole race. In the Tour de France, where it is officially known as the Mountains classification, at the top of each significant climb, points are awarded to the riders who are first over the top. Points Classification
The points classification is a secondary award category in road bicycle racing. Points are given for high finishes and, in some cases, for winning sprints at certain places along the route, most often called ''intermediate sprints''. The points classification is the top prize for many cycling sprinters and is often known as the sprint classification; however, in some stage races these classifications are based on different criteria. The points classification is arguably the second most important title and cycling jersey to win at a cycling stage race behind the general classification, which is the winner of the event by overall time. General Classification
The general classification (or the GC) in road bicycle racing is the category that tracks overall times for riders in multi-stage races. Each stage will have a stage winner, but the overall winner in the GC is the rider who has the fastest cumulative time across all stages.BBC Sport http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sport/tour_de_france/378101.stm Hence, whoever wins the GC is generally regarded as the winner of the race. Riders who finish in the same group are awarded the same time, with possible subtractions due to time bonuses. The team is jointly sponsored by holistic wellness company Lifeplus and fitness technology company Wahoo Fitness, Wahoo.
