2023 EFL Championship Play-off Final
The 2023 EFL Championship play-off final was an association football match which was played on 27 May 2023 at Wembley Stadium, London, to determine the third and final team to gain promotion from the EFL Championship, the second tier of English football, to the Premier League. The top two teams of the 2022–23 EFL Championship, Burnley and Sheffield United, gained automatic promotion to the Premier League, while the clubs placed from third to sixth in the table took part in 2023 English Football League play-offs. Success in the final has been estimated, by the accountancy company Deloitte, to be worth £170 million to the winning team over the next three seasons. The final was contested by Luton Town and Coventry City, who finished third and fifth respectively in the league season. 2023 English Football League Play-offs
The English Football League play-offs for the 2022–23 season (referred to as the Sky Bet Play-Offs for sponsorship reasons) were held in May 2023 with all finals being staged at Wembley Stadium in Wembley. The play-offs begin in each league with two semi-finals which are played over two legs. The teams who finished in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th place in the Championship and League One and the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th-placed teams in League Two compete. The winners of the semi-finals advance to the finals, with the winners gaining promotion for the following season. Anthony Patterson (born 10 May 2000) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for club Sunderland. He represents England U21 internationally. The Stadium of Light is an all-seater football stadium in Sunderland, England, and the eighth and current home to Sunderland A.F.C. With space for 49,000 spectators, the Stadium of Light is the ninth largest football stadium in England. The stadium primarily hosts Sunderland A.F.C. home matches. The stadium was named by chairman Bob Murray to reflect the coal mining heritage of the North East and the former Monkwearmouth Colliery site on which it stands. In sports (particularly association football), a two-legged tie is a contest between two teams which comprises two matches or "legs", with each team as the home team in one leg. The winning team is usually determined by aggregate score, the sum of the scores of the two legs.
