2023 Cavalry FC Season
The 2023 Cavalry FC season was the fifth season in the history of Cavalry FC. In addition to the Canadian Premier League, the club competed in the Canadian Championship. Cavalry FC won the 2023 CPL Shield, and qualified for the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup, but lost the 2023 CPL final against Forge FC. 2023 Canadian Premier League Season
The 2023 Canadian Premier League season is the fifth season of the Canadian Premier League, the top level of Canadian soccer. The 2023 CPL playoff champion and 2023 CPL regular season winner will both earn berths in the newly expanded 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup. Forge FC are the defending CPL champions, having beaten Atlético Ottawa in the 2022 final. Atlético Ottawa are the defending regular season winners. Team and rule changes Eight teams are competing in the 2023 season with the debut of Vancouver FC, and the dissolution of FC Edmonton. The player compensation budget increased by $175,000 compared to 2022. Teams must spend between $750,000 and $1,025,000 on their 20–23 player rosters with a minimum of $30,000 per player. A team making full use of the U21 salary rule can reach a compensation maximum of $1,125,000. FC Edmonton
FC Edmonton was a Canadian professional soccer club based in Edmonton, Alberta. The club was founded in 2010 and competed in the North American Soccer League (NASL) from 2011 to 2017. The club went on hiatus when NASL ceased competitive operations before the cancelled 2018 season. Udoka Chima (born 1 February 2002) is a professional Association football, footballer who plays for Cavalry FC in the Canadian Premier League. Born in Italy and raised in England, he represents Nigeria at international level. Early life Chima was born in Italy to Nigerian parents and lived between the two countries until his family moved to England when he was six. Thomas Geoffrey Field (born 14 March 1997) is a professional footballer who plays as a left back for Canadian Premier League club Cavalry FC. A product of the Brentford Academy, Field graduated into the senior team in 2016. A fringe player, he departed to join Dundee in 2020. Early life Kamdem was born in Paris, France to Cameroonian parents, but later moved to Montreal, Canada, before later moving to Calgary with his family as a child. Callum Montgomery (born May 14, 1997) is a Canadian soccer player who plays for Canadian Premier League side Cavalry FC. Career Amateur and college Montgomery grew up in Lantzville, British Columbia. As a teenager, he moved to Victoria, British Columbia, going on to lead St. Michaels University School to a BC Provincial AA Championship title in 2014.
