2023 Categoría Primera A Season
The 2023 Categoría Primera A season (officially known as the 2023 Liga BetPlay Dimayor season for sponsorship purposes) was the 76th season of the Categoría Primera A, Colombia's top-flight football league. The season began on 24 January and ended on 13 December 2023. Two tournaments (Apertura and Finalización) were played in the season, each one of them being an independent championship. In the Torneo Apertura, Millonarios won their sixteenth league title after defeating Atlético Nacional 3–2 on penalty kicks in the finals after a 1–1 draw on aggregate, whilst Junior won their tenth league title in the Torneo Finalización, beating Independiente Medellín 5–3 on penalty kicks in the finals after tying 4–4 on aggregate. The Categoría Primera A (), commonly referred to as Liga BetPlay Dimayor due to Sponsor (commercial), sponsorship by online betting company BetPlay, is a professional association football league in Colombia and the highest level of the Colombian football league system. A total of twenty clubs compete in the league's regular season. ''División Mayor del Fútbol Profesional Colombiano'', better known as División Mayor del Fútbol Profesional Colombiano, DIMAYOR, organizes the competition and operates the league system of promotion and relegation for both Categoría Primera A and Categoría Primera B leagues. El Clásico Paisa
''El Clásico Paisa'' is the name for the rivalry between the teams of Atlético Nacional and Independiente Medellín. They share Estadio Atanasio Girardot, with a capacity of over 40,000. The two teams are among the most successful teams in Categoría Primera A, with Atlético Nacional the most successful in Colombia in terms of total trophies won, compared to Independiente Medellín, who instead are characterized by their loyal fanbase and their involvement in numerous league finals since the turn of the 21st century. Club Deportivo La Equidad, also known as La Equidad, is a professional Colombian football team based in Bogotá, that currently plays in the Categoría Primera A. They play their home games at the Metropolitano de Techo stadium. History La Equidad was founded in 1982 by its namesake company ''Seguros La Equidad'', and immediately after its foundation it entered the Olaya Tournament, a traditional amateur football tournament in Bogotá. Jaguares de Córdoba is a professional Colombian football team based in Montería, that plays in Categoría Primera B. They play their home games at the Jaraguay stadium. Envigado () is a city and municipality due South of Medellín, Colombia in the department of Antioquia. It is located in the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley.
