2023 CF Montréal Season
The 2023 CF Montréal season was the club's 30th season of existence, and their 12th in Major League Soccer, the top tier of the American soccer pyramid. In addition to competing in the MLS, the club also played in the Canadian Championship and the Leagues Cup. Current squad ''Source, As of September 18, 2023:'' International roster slots Montreal currently has six MLS International Roster Slots for use in the 2023 season. Montreal has eight slots allotted from the league and sold two to St. Louis City SC & Los Angeles FC. In addition, starting in 2022, CF Montreal are allowed to make three international players exempt from status if they have been on the roster for more than one year. CF Montréal is a Canadian professional soccer club based in Montréal, Québec, Canada. The club competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) in the Eastern Conference. Founded in 1992 as the Montreal Impact (french: Impact de Montréal, links=no), the team began play in MLS in 2012 as an expansion team, the league's nineteenth franchise and third Canadian club, leaving the North American Soccer League. Leagues Cup
The Leagues Cup is an annual association football competition between clubs from Major League Soccer and Liga MX in North America. It debuted in July 2019 with four teams participating from each league. The first edition was a single-elimination tournament hosted in the United States with a final played in Las Vegas on September 18, 2019. Beginning in 2023, the tournament will be expanded to include all clubs from MLS and Liga MX, and will function as the regional cup for the North American zone within CONCACAF, with the top three teams qualifying for the CONCACAF Champions League. Format The 2019 edition of Leagues Cup featured four clubs from each league in an eight-team single-elimination knockout tournament, with the first two rounds hosted by the MLS club. Aaron Joseph Herrera (born June 6, 1997) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a defender for CF Montréal in Major League Soccer. College and amateur Herrera played three years of college soccer at the University of New Mexico between 2015 and 2017, scoring 7 goals and tallying 8 assists in 54 appearances. Herrera also played with Premier Development League side FC Tucson in 2016 and 2017. Joel Robert Waterman (born January 24, 1996) is a Canadian Association football, soccer player who plays for CF Montréal of Major League Soccer and the Canada men's national soccer team, Canada national team. Zachary Bichotte Paul Brault-Guillard (born December 30, 1998) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a right-back for Major League Soccer club CF Montréal and the Canadian national team.
