2023 Big Ten Conference Football Season
The 2023 Big Ten conference football season is the 128th season of college football play for the Big Ten Conference and part of the 2023 NCAA Division I FBS football season. This is the Big Ten's tenth season with 14 teams. Next season the league will expand to 16 with the additions of UCLA and USC. Previous season Michigan won the East Division championship, with the Wolverines making their second consecutive appearance in the Big Ten Championship Game. In the West Division, Purdue won the division title and made their first championship game appearance. In that championship game, Michigan defeated Purdue 43–22 to win the Big Ten championship. With that win, the Wolverines landed a spot in the 2022–23 College Football Playoff as the No. 2 seed. The Big Ten Football Championship Game is a college football game held by the Big Ten Conference each year to determine the conference's season champion. The game, held after the regular season has been completed, matches the division champions from the conference's West and East divisions. It is typically held the first Saturday of December, although in 2020 it was played on the third Saturday of December due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis has been the site of the championship game since its inception in 2011 and is scheduled to host through 2021. The Cardinals compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Jeff Brohm
Jeffrey Scott Brohm (born April 24, 1971) is an American football coach and former quarterback, who is the current head football coach of the Louisville Cardinals. Brohm played college football at the University of Louisville for coach Howard Schnellenberger from 1989 to 1993 and played in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons from 1994 to 2000 and the XFL in 2001. Ryan Walters (born January 21, 1986) is an American football coach and former safety, who is the current head football coach for the Purdue Boilermakers. He played college football for Colorado from 2004 to 2008. He then served as the defensive coordinator for the Missouri Tigers (2018–2020) and the Illinois Fighting Illini (2021–2022). Scott Frost
Scott Andrew Frost (born January 4, 1975) is a former American football coach and player. He was the head football coach at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln from 2018 to 2022. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, Frost played college football as a quarterback for the Stanford Cardinal and the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the latter of which he led to a shared national championship in 1997. Matthew Kenneth Rhule (born January 31, 1975) is an American football coach and former player, who is the head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He was previously the head coach at Temple University, Baylor University, and for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He played as a linebacker for Penn State University.
